Learn through Play
PLA Middle School Coming Soon
Progressive Learning Academy (PLA) is a small group of educators and middle school students (grades 5-8) who collaborate to build strong working ties to the community, broaden our academic understanding of subject matters by applying them to real world situations, and grow as individuals that support one another as we discover our individual strengths.
To provide all of our middle school students with a learning environment that supports a lifelong passion for learning and the skills to know how to access, process, and apply information in a quickly changing world. Students will demand excellence in themselves and create a caring and supportive learning community facilitated by teachers who care about their students.
Our middle school students and teachers work as a cooperative partnership. Teachers present the students with the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) in Math and English Language Arts (ELA), Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS), International Society of Technology in Education (ISTE) Standards, 21st Century Learning, and Content Standards adopted by the California State Board of Education. Students work with teachers to develop a plan for learning all standards in a pace and style that fits the child while ensuring all grade level standards are met by the end of the year. This cooperative partnership will allow for and support the individual development of each child as a learner and social being while empowering self actualization, social emotional development, and a sense of place in their community.
