The following information is from St. Louis Community College:Starting with the spring 2018 semester, students have a new option for determining their placement into math courses at St. Louis Community College. We know that a single test may not always determine who can be successful in a math course, so we will now be using a multiple measures approach as an option for determining placement into college level math courses. Students may now be placed into coursework using a combination of a test score and their high school GPA. This option is open to students with ACT scores or Accuplacer scores.Not all students will benefit from this method. In order for students to determine the usefulness of this optional method, they can click on the link below to use a placement tool. This tool allows students to enter a GPA and test score and see what course they would take. Placement Tool www.stlcc.edu/placementtoolIf a student believes that this method will improve their placement before a final transcript is sent, students will need to request to have a current, non-final transcript be sent to the STLCC Registrar’s office via mail or sent electronically through an approved vendor so that their current GPA can be entered into our system. Students not using this method will not need to send a non-final transcript.Mailed transcripts should be sent to:300 South BroadwaySt. Louis, MO 63102Electronic transcripts may be sent using one of the following approved secure vendors:· e-Scrip· Naviance· National Student Clearinghouse· Parchment In addition to this new method of placement, students can now enroll in Intermediate Algebra (MTH 140) if they have an ACT math sub score of 19-21. An ACT math score of 22 or higher still places the student in College Algebra.

Accuplacer Placement Testing at STLCC

The Assessment Center at STLCC offers Accuplacer placement testing, which is an untimed, computerized test to evaluate students’ academic skills to place them in the appropriate courses. All or portions of the exam may be waived if a student has earned the following scores on the ACT:

English = 18 or higher

Reading = 18 or higher

Math = 22 or higher

**A college transcript (this includes Dual Credit and Dual Enrollment) with a C or higher in the areas of reading, writing or math may also waive all or portions of the placement exam.

To prepare for the exam, student are encouraged to visit the College Board- Accuplacer website. While on this site, students can download PDF materials and an app directly to their phone or tablet.

Sending Transcripts & ACT Scores to STLCC

Degree seeking students (those seeking A+, financial aid, student athletes, veteran benefits) should have their FINAL HS transcripts sent directly to the STLCC Registrar’s Office.

ONLY Final transcripts should be sent to the STLCC Registrar’s Office via mail: 300 S. Broadway St. Louis, MO 63102; or sent electronically from the institution to STLCC using an approved, secure vendor (i.e. Parchment, National Student Clearinghouse, e-Scripts, and Naviance). And yes, we are now officially accepting official electronic transcripts from Naviance! For more information on sending official transcripts to STLCC, click here.

The processing of final high school transcripts can take upwards of ten business days (7-10 for paper and 3-5 electronic) from the date in which it was received to when it is processed.

For all schools in the practice of sending preliminary transcripts to show proof of ACT/SAT, or AP scores, encourage students to select “STLCC” as an institution to receive their test results. Otherwise, preliminary transcripts can be sent to the Wildwood Campus.

STLCC Scholarships

The STLCC Foundation has launched a new scholarship application to help foster student success.

This application takes the guesswork out of applying for scholarships by matching students to opportunities. After completing a short application, students receive a personalized list of scholarships. This list is tailored to the student based on information from their application and FAFSA.

With this single application, students are submitted for all eligible scholarships. They’ll also have the opportunity to submit additional materials when required.

But before students can apply, they’ll need to have enrolled at STLCC, completed their FAFSA and registered for classes.

If you or your students have questions about this application, contact the STLCC Foundation at 314-539-5472 or foundation@stlcc.edu.
