• TODAY:

  • HISPANIC HERITAGE MONTH: Cuba, a country of the West Indies, is the largest single island of the archipelago, and one of the more influential states of the Caribbean region. Cuba is known for its beautiful, very old classic cars, world-famous revolutionaries, and remarkable cigars. Dominoes is a popular Cuban past-time and social activity.  The players normally sit around tables in the street and play dominoes for hours. Baseball is the island’s favorite sport. The United States pays Cuba $4,085 each month for rent of the Guantanamo Bay Naval Base. Cuba has never cashed the checks. It is rumored Fidel Castro kept them in his top desk drawer. 

  • There are library books that have been taken out of the library collection and are now free to take home. Classic literature and some history books are up for grabs outside the library. If you are interested, stop by and take a look.

  • Juniors - Your Krispy Kreme orders are due today. Give forms and money to Hov in 208, Dunleavy in 311, or to the main office.

  • There will be mandatory Odyssey of the Mind tryouts today, September 23 in room 301 from 2:15 - 3:15. If you have any questions, please contact Ms. Hoverstock or Mr. Wilson.

• TOMORROW:

  • The first meeting of the Port Jervis Youth Coalition (PJYC) will be Monday, September 26th at 2:15pm in room 103.  Join us to help reduce substance use and promote mental health/wellness and kindness throughout the school!  New members are welcome!!  Want more information?  See Mrs. Grismer in the guidance office or email her at jgrismer@pjschools.org

  • If you are interested in traveling and experience different cultures and languages, Bon Voyage Club is for you.  The first meeting is Monday, September 26.  Please join Bon Voyage Club's Google Classroom for more information. Code: aoorqp3

• Attention Youth in Government members: if you missed the meeting, please check the YIG Classroom. ALL members should see Mrs. Perkowski for a field trip permission form for our October event at Minisink HS.

• Juniors - we will be making posters and banners for spirit week after school every day this week in room 311. Bring a friend!

• There will be a brief informational meeting regarding this year's Spring Musical production on Tuesday, October 11th, at 2:30 in Mrs. Gordon's room, 125.  We will be going over auditions, rehearsal schedules, performances and announcing this year's show! • SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITY:

Applications are now open for Sobo & Sobo’s Annual Scholarship Contest (2022-2023)! This year, high school seniors who are attending a two or four-year college immediately after graduating are invited to submit a 30 to 60 second video. Applicants are invited to visit Sobolaw.com/Scholarship for more further instructions and details about the scholarship contest, or email the Sobo Scholarship Committee at scholarship@sobolaw.com with any questions or concerns.

• Do you want a quiet place to eat your lunch? The following rooms are available for students to go to during their lunch period. Period 6-room 131, period 7-guidance conference & period 8 room 103.

• The Character Trait of the Month for September is Empathy.

• DECA School Store Open!!! Come down and check us out!  Hours;  Right after school Mon - Friday 2:15 to 3:30.  See you there!!!

• Any student who will be driving to school needs to come to the AP's office and pick up an application for a parking permit.  If you have previously received one you do not need to apply for a new one.  Please make sure to display your permit in the bottom of your back window on the driver side.  Stop by the Assistant Principal's office and see Mrs. Sauschuck for an application.
