HISPANIC HERITAGE MONTH: Republica de Colombia or Republic of Colombia is named after explorer Christopher Columbus. Colombia is the second most biodiverse country in the world after Brazil; home to the world's largest protected tropical rainforest: Serrania del Chiribiquete. If you love reading, then you may have heard of Gabriel Garcia Marquez who is well known for "Love in the Time of Cholera" which is one of the most read Spanish novels of all time. Among famous Colombians are also singer and songwriter Shakira and the painter and sculptor Fernando Botero.

The Boys Varsity Soccer team defeated Tri Valley yesterday 3 - 2. Scoring for the Raiders were Aidyn Sotelo, Jesus Trujillo and 8th Grader, Brandyn Prespare with the game winning goal in the final minute of the game! Prespare, Derrick Wragge and Joey Ebbecke had the assists. Joey Ebbecke also made the defensive hustle play of the game by chasing down a Tri Valley player on a break away with an empty net and knocking the ball away at the last second to keep the game tied at 2! Come out and support the boys today as they take on Minisink at 4:15 on the Upper Field.

There will be a Senior Class meeting Thursday, 9/22 to discuss ideas for Spirit Week.
Port Jervis High School will be holding its Open House this Thursday evening beginning at 6PM. Open House is a great opportunity to experience your student's schedule, hear about their classes and meet their teachers.
There will be a meeting in the High School Cafeteria on Thursday this week for anyone interested in joining The Farnum House Haunting! If you are unable to attend please see Hov. T-shirt money is due by Friday!!
Juniors - we will be making posters and banners for spirit week after school every day this week in room 311. Bring a friend!
The first meeting of the Port Jervis Youth Coalition (PJYC) will be Monday, September 26th at 2:15pm (location will be announced). Any student who will be driving to school needs to come to the AP's office and pick up an application for a parking permit. If you have previously received one you do not need to apply for a new one. Please make sure to display your permit in the bottom of your back window on the driver side. Stop by the Assistant Principal's office and see Mrs. Sauschuck for an application.
