HISPANIC HERITAGE MONTH: Panama is the only place in the world where you can see the sunrise on the Pacific and set on the Atlantic. The Panama canal generates fully one-third of Panama's entire economy. The Panama Canal is an artificial 82km waterway that connects the Pacific and the Atlantic Ocean, cutting across the Isthmus of Panama, considerably reducing the time taken to navigate between the Pacific and Atlantic oceans, and changing world trade forever. Built between 1880 and 1914 it’s considered one of the largest and most difficult engineering projects ever undertaken, as almost 30 000 people died from diseases and accidents.
