Beginning today, Monday, October 24th and ending Sunday, November 6th, students can apply to up to five SUNY campuses with no application fee! This includes all 64 SUNY campuses, no matter which application vehicle the student uses. Students can get details here: www.suny.edu/apply
The Science Department would like to wish everyone a Happy Mole Day! Celebrated by chemists annually from 6.02 am to 6.02 pm on October 23rd, Mole Day commemorates Avogadro's number (6.022 x 1023), which is the number of atoms in exactly 12 grams of carbon-12 (one mole).

Club Expo: Are you interested in joining a club or helping with an activity? Tuesday thru Friday this week various clubs will be hosting a table outside the auditorium. Tuesday 10/25 (A-day): Gaming, Interact, Vex Robotics, Youth in Govt. Stop by each table for more information during your lunch period 6, 7, or 8.
The SCIENCE OLYMPIAD TEAM meets on Tuesdays in Room 210. Come claim your event or events! First come, first serve. See the list of events on posters in the hallways. Events cover life science, chemistry, earth science, environmental science, physics and engineering. See Mr. Koenig for more details.
Every Friday in October is Port Pride & Pink at PJHS in honor of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Cancer changes everyone and every family it touches. Breast cancer is the 2nd most common form of cancer in women in the US. 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed in their lifetimes. Let's show our support for those who have been affected by cancer, the families that love and care for them, and the medical providers who treat them while we continue to hope for a cure!
BLOOD DRIVE: The Student Council is hosting the annual blood drive November 3rd from 8-12. You must sign up online for an appointment and have the signed permission forms the day of the drive. If you do not have the permission forms signed, you cannot donate. Students who are 16 year old need both permission forms signed. Students who are 17 &18 need the high school blood drive permission forms. Please bring permission forms to the main office. You will receive two hours of community service for donating.

Juniors and seniors--the SAT exam is being offered at Port Jervis High School on Saturday, November 5th. The late registration deadline is Tuesday, October 25th. Register at www.collegeboard.org Fee waivers are available in the guidance office if you are eligible.

The ASVAB is a multiple-aptitude battery that measures developed abilities and helps predict future academic and occupational success in the military. It is administered annually to more than one million military applicants, high school, and post-secondary students. VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY: Little League Clean-up Day at the Little League Field in West End, Saturday, Nov 5th, 10AM, Nov 6 (rain date)
BOYS BASKETBALL INTRAMURALS: Wednesdays and Thursdays through November, high school boy’s basketball open gyms. Located at the ASK gym. Doors open at 6pm and end at 8pm. Random teams selected, all high school boys invited.
The CHARACTER TRAIT of the Month for October is MINDFULNESS: Please wear PURPLE on Wednesdays to represent MINDFULNESS. Mindfulness means maintaining a moment-by-moment awareness of our thoughts, feelings and bodily sensations.

Any student who will be driving to school needs to come to the AP's office and pick up an application for a parking permit. If you have previously received one you do not need to apply for a new one. Please make sure to display your permit in the bottom of your back window on the driver side. Stop by the Assistant Principal's office and see Mrs. Sauschuck for an application.
