TODAY:
The Varsity volleyball team hosted their annual Dig Pink game, raising $205 to donate to the American Cancer Society in support of Breast Cancer research & development. Donations will still be accepted through the end of the day and you can give to any volleyball player or coach. Thank you all for your support!! The Varsity team persisted beyond the elements of yesterday; after the game was interrupted by the fire alarm system being triggered and having to evacuate the building in the pouring rain with a big W over opponent O'Neill in the best of five set series. Addison McElroy tallied eight kills, five blocks and five aces to lead host Port Jervis (10-1, 5-0) to a five-set victory (15-10, 20-25, 25-9, 16-25, 15-13). Ari Oosterom added nine kills and five digs. Madison Balmos contributed 22 digs, four aces and 12 points. Lexi Tufano had 32 assists, three digs, three aces and nine points. The team improved their record to 10-1 and travels to O'Neill tomorrow morning for another battle.

HISPANIC HERITAGE MONTH: Venezuela The country with the world’s most magnificent and tallest waterfall, The Angels’ Fall, is said to have been named after Venice when explorer Vespucci arrived there. Venezuela has only two seasons: Summer and Winter (dry and rainy seasons). The rainy season goes from May to November. The rest of the year is summer. It has the world's largest known oil reserves and has been one of the world's leading exporters of oil. Baseball is Venezuela's most popular sport, there has been a professional baseball league in the country since 1945.

The PJYC (Port Jervis Youth Coalition) will be meeting Monday, 10/17 at 2:15pm in room 103. New members are always welcome!
There will be an open gym Monday October 17 from 2:30 - 4:30 in the High School Gym for any girl interested in basketball. Any questions, see Ms. Roda
Youth In Government will have a brief meeting on Monday, 10/17 in the library right after school to go over the plan for our trip to Minisink next Friday. If you have not turned your permission form in, please do so this week to Mrs. Perkowski. See Mrs. Perkowski or Mrs. Piscitelli if you have any questions and check the Classroom for updates.
Every Friday in October is Port Pride & Pink at PJHS in honor of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Cancer changes everyone and every family it touches. Breast cancer is the 2nd most common form of cancer in women in the US. 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed in their lifetimes. Let's show our support for those who have been affected by cancer, the families that love and care for them, and the medical providers who treat them while we continue to hope for a cure!
ATTENTION ALL SENIORS: Parent Ads are due 12/23/22. Senior Siblings, Friends Then & Now, and Baby Pictures are all Due 11/18/22. All pictures and Ads can be handed into Mrs. Van Horn in room 104 or the front office.
ART CLUB The next Art Club will meet on Thurs. Oct 20 after school in 116. All are welcome. We will decide sign ups for the Elective Fair and do a collaborative project. 2:15-3:30.
The Science Olympiad Team meets on Tuesdays in Room 210. Come claim your event or events! First come, first serve. See the list of events on posters in the hallways. Events cover life science, chemistry, earth science, environmental science, physics and engineering. See Mr. Koenig for more details.

Please complete the form on the guidance google classroom if you are interested in taking the ASVAB exam on Saturday, November 5th at 8 AM at Port Jervis High School. What is the ASVAB? The is a multiple-aptitude battery that measures developed abilities and helps predict future academic and occupational success in the military. It is administered annually to more than one million military applicants, high school, and post-secondary students.
BOYS BASKETBALL INTRAMURALS: Wednesdays and Thursdays through November, high school boy’s basketball open gyms. Located at the ASK gym. Doors open at 6pm and end at 8pm. Random teams selected, all high school boys invited.

This year, high school seniors who are attending a two or four-year college immediately after graduating are invited to submit a 30 to 60 second video. Any student who will be driving to school needs to come to the AP's office and pick up an application for a parking permit. If you have previously received one you do not need to apply for a new one. Please make sure to display your permit in the bottom of your back window on the driver side. Stop by the Assistant Principal's office and see Mrs. Sauschuck for an application.
