The Varsity Club is looking for members. If you have earned a varsity letter in any sport, are in grades 9 through 12 and would be interested in being a Varsity Club Member, please attend a meeting on Tuesday, October 11th at 2:15 p.m. in the All-States Gym. Mr. Holyk will be explaining what our Varsity Club members do and asking for nominations for Varsity Club Officers.
ATTENTION ALL SENIORS: Senior packets will be handed out today during your English class. Please pay close attention to the Due dates. Parent Ads are due 12/23/22. Senior Siblings, Friends Then & Now, and Baby Pictures are all Due 11/18/22. All pictures and Ads can be handed into Mrs. Van Horn in room 104 or the front office.
The Science Olympiad Team meets on Tuesdays in Room 210. Come claim your event or events! First come, first serve. See the list of events on posters in the hallways. Events cover life science, chemistry, earth science, environmental science, physics and engineering. See Mr. Koenig for more details.
There will be a girls wrestling information meeting TODAY at 2:30 in the rubber gym for any girl that is interested in coming out for the wrestling team this year.
There will be a brief informational meeting regarding this year's Spring Musical production TODAY at 2:30 in Mrs. Gordon's room, 125. We will be going over auditions, rehearsal schedules, performances and announcing this year's show! If you are interested in joining the DRAMA CLUB Classroom for 22-23, please click the link below. HISPANIC HERITAGE MONTH: Peru, the Land of the Incas is entirely located in the Southern Hemisphere. Peru is located on the Pacific Ring of Fire. The country has many volcanoes. Peru is slightly smaller than the state of Alaska in the USA - and almost twice the size of Texas. The largest lake in Peru and in South America is Lake Titicaca. It is also the highest navigable lake in the world! When in Peru, check out Machu Picchu: The ruins of the ancient Inca empire are located about 2,500 m/ 7,972 ft high up in the mountain forests. Rainbow Mountain 'Vilicunca': This colorful mountain is located high up in the Andes mountains. The seven colors of the mountain are due to the different minerals in the soil of the area.
Youth In Government will have a brief meeting on Monday in the library right after school to go over the plan for our trip to Minisink next Friday. If you have not turned your permission form in, please do so this week to Mrs. Perkowski. See Mrs. Perkowski or Mrs. Piscitelli if you have any questions and check the Classroom for updates.

Every Friday in October is Port Pride & Pink at PJHS in honor of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Cancer changes everyone and every family it touches. Breast cancer is the 2nd most common form of cancer in women in the US. 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed in their lifetimes. Let's show our support for those who have been affected by cancer, the families that love and care for them, and the medical providers who treat them while we continue to hope for a cure!
Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors:
Please complete the form on the guidance google classroom if you are interested in taking the ASVAB exam on Saturday, November 5th at 8 AM at Port Jervis High School. What is the ASVAB? The is a multiple-aptitude battery that measures developed abilities and helps predict future academic and occupational success in the military. It is administered annually to more than one million military applicants, high school, and post-secondary students.
BOYS BASKETBALL INTRAMURALS: Wednesdays and Thursdays through November, high school boy’s basketball open gyms. Located at the ASK gym. Doors open at 6pm and end at 8pm. Random teams selected, all high school boys invited.

SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITY:
Applications are now open for Sobo & Sobo’s Annual Scholarship Contest (2022-2023)! This year, high school seniors who are attending a two or four-year college immediately after graduating are invited to submit a 30 to 60 second video. Any student who will be driving to school needs to come to the AP's office and pick up an application for a parking permit. If you have previously received one you do not need to apply for a new one. Please make sure to display your permit in the bottom of your back window on the driver side. Stop by the Assistant Principal's office and see Mrs. Sauschuck for an application.
