On Thursday, the PJHS Youth in Government Club traveled to Marlboro to participate in the County Wide Steering Committee. This event is a mock election convention and primary for the two Youth in Government parties. Port Jervis was successful in getting 3 candidates nominated as their party's candidate for the general election. Each one of these students had to prepare and deliver a speech and gain a majority of votes among the delegates present. Please help us to congratulate: Landon Paperstian who secured the nomination for the People's Party State Senator, Ellis Startup who secured the nomination for the People's Party Congressional Representative and Noemie Florant who secured the nomination for Governor from the Citizen's party.
A big Congratulations to Kacie Lynch earning a spot on the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade Cheer Squad. Tune-in to NBC at 9 am to see Kacie & the Spirit of America group preform in front of Macy’s as a 2022 Squad Captain.
Another huge Congratulations to Julian Jacob for being selected to receive NASA's "You've Got Perseverance!" award. Julian will get the chance to chat with the rover team members from mission control at Nasa's Jet Propulsion Laboratory on December 6th! He will also receive a special message sent directly from the Perseverance rover on Mars along with an award pack of mission essentials! Julian was selected for demonstrating perseverance in his academic pursuits and by showing that nothing will deter him from his educational journey!
The next meeting of the PJYC (Port Jervis Youth Coalition) is Monday, 11/28 at 2:15pm in room 103~~new and existing members are welcome!

The Science Olympiad Team meets on Tuesdays in Room 210. Come claim your event or events! First come, first serve. Events cover life science, chemistry, earth science, environmental science, physics and engineering. See Mr. Koenig or your science teacher for more details.

Are you an adventurous student? Do you like snow, skiing, snowshoeing, and exploring new ecosystems, are you an upper level science student? If so, the Winter Ecology Trip is for you! Dats are: 1/24-1/28 and permission slips and itineraries are posted outside of room 209. Deposits and permission slips will be accepted until the trip is full. Cooking Club: The sign up sheet is outside of room 103. Please sign up during your guided learning or lunch. Have any questions? Contact the club president-Mikaela Murphy, vice president-Karlee Acevedo or Mrs. Coalla via email. A google classroom will be created.

BOYS BASKETBALL INTRAMURALS: Wednesdays and Thursdays through November, high school boy’s basketball open gyms. Located at the ASK gym. Doors open at 6pm and end at 8pm. Random teams selected, all high school boys invited.
All students are invited to stop by Chess Club after school every Wednesday in room 311. Whether you are a grandmaster or just looking to learn about one of the world's oldest games, your presence is welcome.
SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITY:
NYS PTA Jenkins Memorial Scholarship application for HS Seniors who will pursue a degree in education is now available on the NYS PTA website. https://nyspta.org/home/pta-leaders/awards-and-recognitions/jenkins-scholarship/ All applications must be postmarked or submitted electronically by DEC. 15, 2022.
The Youth Humanitarian Award in Memory of Stanley Marcus is now available to Juniors and Seniors. This $250 scholarship is for students who display humanitarian principles by word and deed. DECA School Store Open!!! Come down and check us out! Hours; Right after school Mon - Friday 2:15 to 3:30. See you there!!! Pizza Thursday $2.50 per slice.
Any student who will be driving to school needs to come to the AP's office and pick up an application for a parking permit. If you have previously received one you do not need to apply for a new one. Please make sure to display your permit in the bottom of your back window on the driver side. Stop by the Assistant Principal's office and see Mrs. Sauschuck for an application.
