TODAY:
The OCIAA championship meet took place at Warwick high school. It was two days of great weather and even better competition. A number of our Runnin’ Raiders had personal best performances, won some medals, hit state meet standards, and the boys 4x100 relay is close to qualifying for nationals. History was made by Makenna Williams, she is the first Port 8th grader to make the finals in two events (100 and 200) at a varsity championship meet. Josiah Welch broke the 400m record for the second time in three weeks. Constentino Proscia (long & 100) and Dorien Belice (discus) brought home medals from the championship meet. Both girl's 4x100 relay (Batzel, Williams, Mioglionico, & Russell) and the boys 4x100 relay (Roman, Welch, Allen, Proscia) made it to the finals. Both posted season best times. The boys relay time met the standard for states and is .1 seconds away from qualifying for Adidas Outdoor nationals. Our next meet is the Section Nine Championships May 24th in Goshen.
