  • Women's History Month: Marie Tharp-Marie Tharp, born in 1920, was an American geologist and oceanographic cartographer who, in partnership with Bruce Heezen, created the first scientific map of the Atlantic Ocean floor. Tharp's work revealed the detailed topography and multi-dimensional geographical landscape of the ocean bottom. She was one of a very few female scientists. Her scientific theories were often dismissed, but later found to be true.

• Are you ready for the best month of the year? March MAMMAL Madness. Stop by 209 for this year's brackets, choose your champion and sit back and enjoy the carnage. It's the greatest show on Earth.

• FEARLESS! is taking applications for their 12th annual Summer Youth Leadership Academy (SYLA).  The free, in-person week-long program aims to empower students entering grades 9-12 to learn about racism, bullying, gender oppression, the difference between healthy and unhealthy relationships, and building solutions for change.

WHEN:  July 24- July 28 |  - Port Jervis Recreational Center, 135 Pike Street 

Students will receive:

• 30 Hours of Community Service, $50 Stipend *new this year, A Letter of Recommendation

• Port Jervis HS seeks a driver for our Super Stock Car in the Soap Box Derby here in Port Jervis on June 11. Registration ends April 1st. See Mr. Koenig for more info.

• The Character Trait of the month for March is Honesty~~the color is light blue.  Please wear light blue for Honesty on Wednesdays! Honesty -  is not just about telling the truth; it’s about being real with yourself and others about who you are, what you want, and what you need to live your most authentic life.

• Do you want a quiet place to eat your lunch? The following rooms are available for students to go to during their lunch period. Period 6-room 131, period 7-A Day-Auditorium, B Day-guidance conference & period 8 room 103.

• Any student who will be driving to school needs to come to the AP's office and pick up an application for a parking permit.  If you have previously received one you do not need to apply for a new one.  Please make sure to display your permit in the bottom of your back window on the driver side.  Stop by the Assistant Principal's office and see Mrs. Sauschuck for an application.
