History Fact of the Month: The United States was drawn into World War II on the morning of December 7, 1941, when the Japanese Navy conducted a surprise attack against the United States naval base at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, home to the U.S. Pacific Fleet, claiming the lives of more than 2,400 people. The next day, in an address to Congress requesting a declaration of war, President Franklin D. Roosevelt gave the immortal line that December 7, 1941 was “a date which will live in infamy”. The near-unanimous war resolution passed an hour later.
Attention INTERACT members: Interact is collecting for the "cash for kids" holiday gift cards. Stop by Mrs. Schields' office to pick up a collection box! We are also ringing the bell for the Salvation Army holiday red kettle drive this Saturday. Check the Google Classroom for more details. And finally, we will have a brief meeting on Monday, right after school, in the library. Make plans to join us!
The INTERACT CLUB is invited to "Ring the Bell" for The Salvation Army this coming Saturday, Dec. 6th, at Wal-Mart, times are flexible. Bring your Santa hat, elf ears, and a smile! This will count as 1 hour of community service. (See Mrs. Schields to sign up for a time)
Mock Trial will be meeting on Tuesday, December 9th, after school in room 261 to discuss this year's case. Mock Trial is open to all high school students and is a great way to learn how to argue and improve public speaking skills. If interested, please come to the meeting or see Mr. Dunleavy.
ATTENTION SENIORS: SUNY Orange will be visiting Port Jervis High School TODAY from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM for an Instant Admissions Event. If you want to apply to SUNY Orange for free during this visit, please complete the Google Form available in the Senior Guidance Google Classroom before December 4th. Don’t miss this chance to submit your college application quickly and easily! If you have any questions, please see your school counselor.

Orange Ulster BOCES (CTEC) counselors will visit Port Jervis High School on Wednesday, December 17th, to discuss CTEC programs with all sophomores. The presentation will take place in the auditorium from 8:30 to 9:30 AM.

ATTENTION SENIORS:
Fruit fundraiser: These are perishable items and will need to be picked up on the delivery date. The profit margin is 25% per box. Delivery is December 6th. The truck will be here around 10 a.m. We will need help taking the orders off the truck and pick up will be between 12-3 p.m.
