  • AM Homeroom Friday, April 27th - There will be a 5 minute homeroom on Friday, April 27th from 7:29-7:34 to distribute report cards. Period 1 will begin at 7:37.  We will not be adjusting the bells.

  • The Library will be closed today periods 5-8. Friday: periods 5-8.

  • Officers from the Port Jervis City Police Department will be joining police officers across New York State to participate in the 2023 Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee “No Empty Chair” Teen Driver Safety Initiative during the week of April 24, 2023 – April 28, 2023, designed to improve young driver safety and awareness.   • Seniors, order your Class of 2023 T-Shirt now!  It is only $5.  Check your school email and Class of 2023 Google Classroom page for more information.

  • The PJYC would like to thank the students and staff who participated in our RESPECT Contest by nominating their peers who show respect in their attitude and behavior. Ten prize recipients were randomly selected from all the nominees.  Congratulations to the following PJHS students:  Aidyn Sotelo, Robin Sweeney, Theo Moliterno, Joshua Mursalin, Daniel Morejon, Yacine Niasse, Antonio Berdecia, Alyssa Reed, Layla Miller, and Juliana Vasquez.  Each of the 10 winners received a PJYC water bottle, lanyard and a slice of pizza from the school store from the youth coalition.

• Chemistry Regents Review: All after school review sessions are scheduled to be in room 311, starting at 2:15 and will end when the last student leaves. Come prepared with your practice test, answer sheet, calculator, reference tables, and questions. It is important that you try your best to answer the questions that we are going over before the review session. Note that your teacher also has free periods during the day and will be able to stay after school most Tuesdays and Thursdays. Regents Exams begin on Wednesday, June 14. There will likely be review sessions on June 14, June 15, and June 16. The time and content of those review sessions will be revealed at a later date.

• The Powder Puff Teams have been created. You will be hearing from your coaches about practices.

• Powder Puff Cheerleading Practice will be held Monday May 1st and Thursday May 4th outside by the Mods from 2:45-4pm.

• Reminder to all Character Education award recipients:  the school store will be closing on June 2nd this year.  Please redeem your certificate for $2 worth of items at the store OR a slice of pizza (Thursdays) before 6/2!

• The Character Trait of the month for April is Friendship.  Please wear red for Friendship on Wednesdays! Friendship - a state of enduring affection, esteem, intimacy, and trust between two people. In all cultures, friendships are important relationships throughout a person's life span.

• Seniors - The Guy Perkowski Blue Collar Scholarship, The Matthew O'Brien Memorial Scholarship, and The Masonic War Veterans Beth-El Post #29 Scholarship have all been added to Naviance and your Senior Guidance Google Classroom. Scholarships will continue to be posted as they are received. Please apply!

• FEARLESS! is taking applications for their 12th annual Summer Youth Leadership Academy (SYLA).  The free, in-person week-long program aims to empower students entering grades 9-12 to learn about racism, bullying, gender oppression, the difference between healthy and unhealthy relationships, and building solutions for change.

WHEN:  July 24- July 28 |  - Port Jervis Recreational Center, 135 Pike Street 

Students will receive:

• 30 Hours of Community Service, $50 Stipend *new this year, A Letter of Recommendation

She will also collect the applications and send them to Fearless!

• Yearbooks: Yearbooks can no longer be purchased on-line. Bring a check made out to Yearbook or cash for $80 to Mrs. Van Horn in room 104. They are on sale till the end of the school year. 

• Do you want a quiet place to eat your lunch? The following rooms are available for students to go to during their lunch period. Period 6-room 131, period 7-A Day-Auditorium, B Day-guidance conference & period 8 room 103.

• Any student who will be driving to school needs to come to the AP's office and pick up an application for a parking permit.  If you have previously received one you do not need to apply for a new one.  Please make sure to display your permit in the bottom of your back window on the driver side.  Stop by the Assistant Principal's office and see Mrs. Sauschuck for an application.
