About Me

Mrs. Hetzell is the 6th grade science teacher at PTMS. She was born in Philadelphia, but has lived in South Jersey all of her life. As a matter of fact, Mrs. Hetzell actually grew up right here in Pittsgrove! She went through this very middle school as a student and enjoyed it so much that she was inspired to become a teacher. She’s now teaching with many of the teachers who taught her when she was in school. Talk about a unique experience!

Mrs. Hetzell graduated from Schalick High School, then attended Rowan University where she earned a Bachelors Degree in both Elementary Education and Liberal Studies: Math & Science. That’s how she came to be your science teacher at PTMS!

In her spare time, Mrs. Hetzell enjoys spending time with family and friends, reading, traveling, being outdoors, and playing sports. Her favorite is softball. She is actually a former state champ from Elmer Little League, where many of you play ball. Mrs. Hetzell is also a huge Disney fan!

In her science class you should expect to work hard, but have a lot of fun as well. Mrs. Hetzell loves to get her students thinking about the world around them. There are so many amazing things to discover and learn! Be prepared for an exciting and successful year in Mrs. Hetzell’s class!
