Quantum Networking
The question we ask ourselves is: how can we network superconducting-qubit-based quantum processors that are distant from each other?
Transferring quantum information encoded in microwave photons over long distances and at room temperature is impossible due to the loss in coaxial cables and the significant amount of thermal noise.
One promising solution is to convert the quantum information encoded in microwave photons to optical frequencies and use optical networking between distant quantum processors. In our lab, we aim to build such a quantum transducer between microwave and optical domains.
