Art 1 is open to all students with no previous experience necessary. We will explore various media and techniques related to painting, drawing, and sculpture. A general overview of art history and cultural influences will be connected to hands-on projects in order to contextualize the role of art in society.
This is an introductory course that covers the basics of both film and digital photography. This beginning level course will focus primarily on process and technique. We will cover basic camera functions, exposure control, film development, darkroom techniques, and print presentation. Additionally we will explore the history of photography and issues related to its use across cultures throughout the course.
Jewelry 1 is a course open to all high school students. This course will introduce students to fundamentals of metal working. Topics covered relate directly to design, tools and technique. We will work with precious metals to create soldered works, rings and many other exciting projects.
As a continuation of jewelry 1, jewelry 2 offers an in depth look at more advanced techniques including stone setting, enamel, patinas, glass work and advanced soldering techniques. Modern jewelry history will be explored and we will engage in an analysis of the jewelry industry.
