Welcome! We are off to a great new year of learning!
Gerace's Guys & Gals!
Thank you for visiting 5G's web page. I hope to see you involved this school year, and I'm looking forward to getting to know you and your child. Please feel free to contact me at any time at 856-589-1316 or by e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org. I have taught at both Walls School and Memorial School and hold certifications in Elementary Education, Reading, and Special Education. Each year brings about a chance to get to know a whole new group of bright, young students. I am thrilled that your child is part of my class this year. I take the responsibility of teaching children very seriously. I make it part of my personal mission to see that every child succeeds in my classroom. I want your child to leave in June with a sense of accomplishment and the knowledge that he/she is ready to tackle sixth grade.
Homework is not meant to torture you or your child. It should approximately last about 15 minutes to about an hour every night. I usually will not give homework on a Friday, unless your child has been absent or is behind on an assignment.
Any unfinished class work becomes homework. Reading is often assigned as homework. I encourage your child to work on this independently, with a friend, or to read with a parent. Reading and talking with someone about a text is a great strategy for improving comprehension. At the conclusion of each day, we record ALL homework assignments as an announcement on my Google Classroom Page, which your child knows how to access. Click on the word link to reach my homework page. Should your child be absent, this is a great place to start to see the homework.
Tests, quizzes, homework, class work, hands-on projects, writing portfolios (rubrics), and effort are all used for student assessment each parking period. I will always announce a test at least 3 days in advance.
