Parent Experience Overview
PowerSchool is Project Impact STEM Academy's Student Information System (SIS) it manages all student data including attendance , calculation of final grades, and grade reports (report cards and transcripts). PowerSchool is where you will log in to check your students attendance and final grades. As a parent you can set up alerts within PowerSchool to alert you of student absences and grade notifications. The PowerSchool Parent Portal User Manual is a good resource for navigating the portal. Note that Pi STEM uses a modified standards-based grading method, we do not use Pearson Education materials (ignore this section) and we currently do not do registration through PowerSchool (so you can ignore this section).

PowerSchool - School Messenger App
Urgent/Emergent Student Attendance and other Alert Notification Preferences
We use a PowerSchool plugin app called School Messenger to push out urgent and emergent text notifications from PowerSchool. You can access this and set your preferences using the below guide:
You will find a SchoolMessenger app link on the top right hand side of your PowerSchool parent portal. Using this link will launch the SchoolMessenger app from PowerSchool while keeping your PowerSchool session active, allowing you to work in both applications simutaniously.
To launch the SchoolMessenger App
1.) Log into the PowerSchool Parent Portal.
2.) On the start page, click SchoolMessenger in the Navigation Menu. The School Messenger app will launch their landing page in another window. The first time you log into the SchoolMessenger page you will be prompted with the following screen.
3.) After you have verified that your email address on the screen is correct, check your email address inbox for the verification email.
4.) Open the verification email and click the link provided to verify.
This page serves two purposes:
Lets you know that from now on you will be taken directly to your inbox in SchoolMessenger app.
Lets you create a login password, if desired. There is no password requirement if you are logging in through PowerSchool. Having a password will allow you to access SchoolMessenger directly, without login in through PowerSchool.
Once you access SchoolMessenger you will find a screen that looks like the one below. This screen will allow you to turn on (green) or turn off various SchoolMessenger functions.
