Chemistry, STEM, Computer Science

I am so excited to begin my fifth year at Pinnacle! I began at Pinnacle focused only on elementary and middle school STEM. I am even more excited to return to our normal STEM program with lots of hands-on activities! I teach middle school STEM, Introduction to Computer Science, AP Computer Science, and Chemistry.

Background: As a Navy brat, I grew up all over the United States and in multiple foreign countries. This experience instilled in me a love of travel, learning, and trying out new things. I have a BSEE from the University of Central Florida and a MSEE from the University of Michigan. In both cases, I studied Electrical Engineering, with an emphasis on electro-optics and lasers. I have taught a variety of subjects, including math, science, engineering technology, mostly at the middle school level. I am nearly finished with my MAT with a concentration in high school science. I believe in the power of collaborative learning, thinking outside the box, and fostering creativity. In addition to FIRST Robotics, I have been involved in Science Olympiad for many years.

I have two grown children. My son, Matthew, works in manufacturing in Asheville. My daughter, Erin, is training to be a physician for the Army, and is currently stationed in Bethesda, Maryland.
