The regular season ends early June, usually a week after school ends.
The all season except T-Ball conclude with a league tournament the weekend after the regular season ends.
See your division for more specific information. Not all divisions offer tournament ball, and team formation may differ among divisions.
This season allows players to play at the level they will play the next spring. For example, a player who will move from T-Ball up to Rookie the next Spring, can play Rookie level this Fall. The focus is on developing players for the Spring season.
Sign-up is from July 1st through August, the earlier the better. We start planning for our teams early August, so it's possible we may not have room on a team if you sign up after mid-August. If registration is closed we will open up a waiting list, we do our best to get everyone on a team and playing.
Practices start late August
Games start after Labor Day
The season ends mid to late October, before Daylight Savings Time ends.
Equipment We Provide
Team shirt and hat.
Batting helmets. Each team has enough helmets for all base runners and the batter. If you want to get a baseball helmet please make sure it fits your child well.
Bats, each team has a selection of age appropriate bats. If you are thinking about getting your child a bat please click here for more information on how to pick an appropriate bat for young children. We recommend using the team bats for a couple practices to see which size works best for your player. Remember young children grow quickly, but they don't put a lot of wear and tear on their equipment. Since they may out grow a bat in a year or two, so it might be a good idea to check with friends who have older players who may have out grown their equipment.
Balls.
Catcher's gear. Each team will have at least one complete set of catcher's gear. We rotate children through all nine fielding positions, based on each players ability, so there is no dedicated catcher on the team. Please talk to your coach if you are thinking about getting catcher's gear. Children grow very quickly, so we recommend waiting before buying this equipment.
Equipment To Get
For boys, an athletic cup.
Glove
Grey Baseball Pants
Appropriate shoes (sneakers are fine for TBall, work for Rookie, plastic/rubber cleats for 12 and under, metal or plastic cleats for Junior and Senior Babe Ruth)
Equipment Parents might consider
Baseball backpack for your players equipment if they have more than a baseball glove.
Water bottle
When will I find out about my child's team? The coach should contact you seven to ten days before the first practice. If you haven't heard by the general time frame for your division, please email registration@pineforge.org or contact a commissioner or Board member so we can make sure you get the information you need.
The ball is hit off a tee, players can only advance one base at a time.
Bases are 45 feet apart.
Coaches coach from the field during games and we expect all coaches to be helping all players during the game.
In addition to our general goals for all ages, for T-Ball our end of season goals are:
Individual Skills
Catch balls hit or thrown to them, this is the most important skill! Catching is the skill that allows your child to protect themself from injury.
To throw with decent mechanics.
To play first base in a safe way. First basemen should catch balls thrown to them with their throwing side foot touching the inside side of the bag. Touching the side of their foot to the inside side of the bag keeps their bodies out of the basepath and helps prevent collisions between the first baseman and the batter-runner. Putting the throwing side foot in contact with the bag gives the first baseman the greatest range for reaching thrown balls.
Batting, the mechanics of a good swing.
Plate coverage, where to stand in relation to home plate when batting.
Team Skills
Communication: calling for the ball.
Backing up plays instead of scrumming around the ball.
Knowledge of the game
How to run the bases.
Force outs at 1st
Fly outs
3 outs per side in an inning
Where players start for each defensive positions
Keep the batting order
Later in the season, force outs at other bases
Team assignment: your coach will contact you in late March or very early April to introduce themself and let you know the team practice schedule.
Practices:
Start early to mid April.
We schedule two practices a week. One will be on a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday evening from 6:00PM-7:00PM. This will be the same night each week. The second will be early or late Saturday morning.

The regular season ends early June, usually a week after school ends.
There is no fall baseball for t-ball.
What night will we practice, my child has another activity on xxxday. Teams practice on the same night each week. If your child has another activity during the week you can let us know about the nights that work best in the "Special Requests" section on our registration page. We will do our best to avoid conflicts.
Equipment You Must Provide
Baseball Glove - Make sure it is NOT too big or stiff. Young players need smaller, more flexible gloves, that allow them to comfortably hold their glove hand out, open and close the glove, and see around the glove.
Shoes - Any regular pair of sneakers will do. Cleats are not needed, but if you have cleats, they must be plastic, metal cleats are not allowed!
Equipment We Provide
Team shirt and hat. We do not require baseball pants at this level. If you do buy baseball pants, please get grey pants to everyone with baseball pants match. The shirts and hats will arrive before the first game.
Balls, we use special balls for t-ball that are less likely to injure young players.
Coaches pitch to their own team. Players can attempt to advance 2 bases on fly balls hit into the outfield grass on the fly. otherwise players can only advance one base at a time.
Coaches coach from the field during games and we expect all coaches to be helping all players during the game.
Bases are 54 feet apart.
We are looking to reinforce the skills and knowledge from T-Ball and add
Individual Skills
Catching fly balls correctly.
Understanding each player's strike zone.
Hitting pitched balls.
Identifying where pitches were located in the strike zone grid. For example, high and inside.
Team Skills
Communicating the number of outs before each play
Communicating where critical plays may occur

This is a huge step up from Rookie division.
Players pitch to the opposing batters.
Runners must remain in contact with their base until the ball crosses the plate, but may then attempt to steal at their discretion.
Bases are 60 feet apart.
The coaches are no longer on the field with the players. Players must take responsibility for knowing ,before each pitch, where their plays will be and which play they should attempt based on how and where the ball is hit.
We are looking to reinforce the skills and knowledge from T-Ball and Rookie with

Team assignment is by draft. If your player is new to the division you will be contacted with a date and time for a skills evaluation event in March. Immediately after the skills evaluation the coaches will draft players. If your play can not attend, or misses, the evaluation, their name will be placed in a "hat". Each coach is given the opportunity to draft a specific player from the players at the evaluation, or to pick a random player from the "hat". Players returning to the same division as the prior spring do not need to come to the evaluation.

This is a big year for rising Majors players. The field is so much bigger. They are now playing on a regulation 90' baseball field, the same size as in Major League Baseball. The second baseman on the 90' field is playing as far from home plate as the right fielder played in Majors.
When and where possible we will try to put a 13 year olds only team into a 13 year old only league to help these players adjust to the larger field.
There are very few modifications to MLB rules, most involve the batting order or pitch counts. For example, starting players are allowed to re-enter the game one time as long as they re-enter in the same spot in the batting order they started.
Stealing, balks, ... are regular baseball rules.
We are looking to reinforce the skills and knowledge from Majors with additional focus on:

Team assignment is by draft. Players will practice together and be evaluated by the coaching staff for team placement. We are looking to find the team which will provide the most playing time for each player. Players develop by playing, not sitting on the bench.
