How To Reach Us From Taipei Airport?
Overview
Taipei airport --- via Metro (about 25 min) ---> Taoyuan HSR* --- via HSR (between 1.5 and 2.0 hr) ---> Tainan HSR --- via local train (about 25 min) ---> Tainan train station --- by foot (about 15 minutes) ---> NCKU Physics
*HSR: high speed railDetails
Airport to Taoyuan HSR
After passport control, pick up your luggage, go out and look for the metro called MRT. Buy a ticket for HSR Taoyuan from the vending machines (around 20 or 30 NTD per person), unless you have an Easy Card. Mind the direction of the MRT: It should be opposite to Taipei.Taoyuan HSR to Tainan HSR
After getting out of the MRT, follow the signs to reach HSR. It's directly connected; no walking on the street. Either use the vending machines or go to the counter to buy a ticket to Tainan HSR. Some trains are slightly faster because of fewer stops and some slower. The faster one will take around 1.5 hours, and the slower one nearly 2 hr.Tainan HSR to Tainan train station
After exiting the gate of the HSR (where you need to insert the ticket and pick up afterwards), turn immediately left. Then you will see how to get to the local train station, called Shalun. It's also directly connected. No walking on the street. It's only a one- or two-minute walk distance. If you have the Easy Card, use it to cross the gate and take the local train. There is no mistake possible because it is an end stop and there is only one kind of train. There are 5 stops totally, and will take around 25 minutes until you reach Tainan train station. Such local trains run every half an hour roughly.
