This course is available to students in grades 9-12 and is a great way to learn the basic of good singing, and to enhance singing and performing skills. There is no audition for this class. Singing Kingsmen meet during Gold 4 from 1:51-3:17.

Cantabile Choir (G1) - Intermediate Level - Course #0807

Cantabile Choir is our intermediate treble choir. Most ladies will enroll in this course after Bel Canto Chorus, but some may have the option to skip this course and take an advanced choir. Students will continue to learn music literacy skills, sight-reading, and how to sing with a beautiful, full tone. "Cantabile" is an Italian music term meaning "smooth singing." This style of singing is desirable in choirs, and it is a continuation of the bel canto style. This course is available to students in grades 10-12 and is a great way to enhance singing and performing skills. There is no audition for this class. Cantabile Choir meets during Gold 1 from 8:25-9:51.

Bella Voce (B2) - Advanced Level - Course #0809

Bella Voce, formerly known as Women's Chorale, is our advanced treble choir. Members of this choir are made up of students in grades 10-12, but primarily 11-12. Students in this choir have demonstrated the skills necessary to be in an advanced choir, including sight-reading, the ability to sing with a healthily produced tone, as well as knowledge and application of music theory skills. These students will continue to develop these skills, but at a much higher level than beginning and intermediate choirs. Members of this choir are eligible to travel (along with Concert Choir) during even-numbered years, the next being 2020. Members must audition successfully to be enrolled, with auditions taking place in January. This class meets during Black 2 from 9:57-11:23.

Concert Choir (B3) - Advanced Level - Course #0811

Concert Choir is our advanced mixed choir. Members of this choir are made up of students in grades 10-12, but primarily 11-12. Students in this choir have demonstrated the skills necessary to be in an advanced choir, including sight-reading, the ability to sing with tone produced in a healthy manner, and knowledge and application of music theory skills. These students will continue to develop these skills, but at a much higher level than beginning and intermediate choirs. Members of this choir are eligible to travel (along with Bella Voce) during even-numbered years, the next being 2020. Members must audition successfully to be enrolled, with auditions taking place in January. This class meets during Black 3 from 12:04-1:45.

Viva Voce (G2) - Secondary Advanced Level - Course #0814

Viva Voce is our premiere mixed chamber choir, consisting of 20-28 singers of high ability. Students in grades 10-12 are eligible for this course. Because of the demands and difficulty of repertoire, students in this choir are also required to be enrolled in Bella Voce and/or Concert Choir concurrently. For this reason, we refer to this class (along with Rhapsody) as a Secondary Advanced Choir. This chamber choir primarily focuses on the music of living composers, but also sings music from any time period. Each year, Viva Voce commissions at least one composer to write a piece of music specifically for the group. Previous composers have included Daniel Brinsmead (Australia), Ben Goshorn-Maroney (Indianapolis), Daniel McIntosh (Kansas City), Paul Carey (Chicago), Ola Gjeilo (New York City), and others. In addition to commissioning music, Viva Voce also performs larger works with band and/or orchestra, such as Will Todd's Mass in Blue (2016) and Jazz Missa Brevis (2018), John Corigliano's Fern Hill (2017), and Franz Schubert's Mass in G (2019). Because it is a highly select ensemble, students must first pass the audition for Advanced Choir (January) and then audition for this group in March. The class meets during Gold 2 from 9:57-11:23.

Rhapsody (G3) - Secondary Advanced Level - Course #0813

Rhapsody, formerly known as Chamber Choir, is our advanced level Show Choir. The name was changed beginning the 2015-2016 school year in order to give the ensemble a better sense of identity and to correct the name, which had become a misnomer with the group's evolution into a show choir. This course is eligible for students in grades 10-12 upon successful audition in March. Because this group is highly select, students must concurrently be enrolled in Bella Voce and/or Concert Choir. For this reason, we refer to it as a Secondary Advanced Choir. Students in this course learn how to sing and dance both independently and together. Each semester the ensemble focuses on five songs chosen to complete their set. Rhapsody is accompanied by our in-house Jazz Combo. This choir is available for hire from November-December and April-June. This course meets during Gold 3 from 11:29-1:14.
