I'm excited to be back at Ziegler for my 15th year! I'll be an intervention teacher again this year working with small groups helping kids with reading and math. My teaching philosophy is simple: Children First. Children can and will do whatever you believe that they can. I believe in my students and I know that when we meet them right where they need, they learn! I'm fortunate to say I've had many opportunities during my time here at Ziegler. One of those has been learning how and why multi sensory approaches to teaching helps students retain information more effectively. I use this knowledge to help my students learn and retain information so that they can be confident and productive learners.
Before I became and intervention teacher, I taught Kindergarten for 7 years, First grade for 6 years and second grade for 1 year here at Ziegler. Prior to that I taught Kindergarten at a small charter school in Northeastern PA for 4 years. I'm passionate about public education and have spent a lot of time advocating for public education and my students through my work with the Philadelphia Federation of Teachers where I serve on the executive board.
I live in Churchville with my husband Mike, my daughter Erin who is 11, and 2 pets-a silly dog named Zonka and a mischievous cat named Gizmo. I like to read, watch TV and shop! I love spending time at home with my family watching movies. We like to go to the beach, and travel! I can't wait to spend more time with my other kids here at Ziegler and getting to know all of you!
