In 1989, protesters protested against Reagan’s policies,
They were upset with the President’s atrocities.
A Texan by the name of Gregory Johnson put kerosene on the American flag,
His anger crisped his heart, just as kerosene turned it into rag.
Johnson was arrested and sentenced in jail for a year.
However, his case was turned to the Supreme Court, Johnson did not fear.
Just as Texas was bickering about the flag burning,
The Texan Supreme Court was arguing.
After many arguments the man, Gregory Johnson, won.
Like a crazed cowboy, who celebrated by shooting at the air with his gun.
The decision was made 5-4,
Just a single vote, one more.
That single vote won Johnson’s case,
It went slow and steady but Johnson won his race
For Justice Brennan had stated
That no matter how offensive Johnson’s action was,
His action is protected by the First Amendment,
Even if everyone had made a fuss.
The mouse had beaten the bickering Rattlesnake,
Proclaiming that the Serpent’s words sank like a great frigate.
He, the Rattlesnake, humiliated
And shamefully went away, aggravated.
