The school of Furness holds some outstanding students, who excel in many different subjects and areas. These brilliant talents have worked hard, going far in academics and other endeavors, leading them to amazing opportunities regarding their next step: college.

Many Senior-year students who are about to graduate have been rewarded with scholarships, which are payments to support aspiring students’ further education. This article will showcase some of the many scholarship recipients from Furness.

Adam Marcello, an Indonesian immigrant who had just stepped foot in America a bit more than a year ago, was not only accepted into Haverford, a prestigious college, but was also gifted a full 4-year scholarship to attend as one of their students (the college has an average cost of $85,000 without aid). Adam chose physics as his major and showed immense passion and gratitude for the college, stating that Haverford’s small community has presented more opportunities for deeper and quality relationships, which he appreciates.

Liam Ngai, an iconic part of Furness’ student council group, received up to $7,500 in college education aid through the Last Dollar Scholarship, gifted from Furness’ College Access Program (CAP). Although Liam hadn’t decided on what he’s willing to major in, he plans to use these funds toward taking his education even further in Temple University, where he got accepted into. Although he doesn’t have a majorly clear direction on where he’s headed for his future, he plans on taking his education and career seriously wherever life goes.

Eh Nay Htoo, an ESOL (English to Speakers of Other Languages) student, was awarded $1,000 in aid for college education expenses from the Dale Perkins ESOL Scholarship for 2024. Eh Nay is planning to enroll into Widener University and major in Hospitality Management to accelerate his career in the hopes to becoming a hotel manager, mentioning that he was extremely grateful for the scholarship’s help and will continue to work hard to achieve his goals. Widener was his choice of university mainly because of the convenient location and amazing campus they provide. Eh Nay also has plans regarding his artistic talents, though is more committed to his dream of becoming a hotel manager, and therefore only creates art in his free time.
