Donald Trump and Kamala Harris

Vice President Harris and former President Trump, the 2 candidates for president, have officially debated against each other. They debated the border situation, economy, and abortion which are highly important to the American people. 

The first subject that was debated was the economy. Both sides had arguments that were made. Vice President Harris stated that the middle-class family would have to pay an additional $5,000 because of “his policy.” Trump rejected such a claim and made his claim that people from other countries are coming into this country and taking over the jobs because of Biden and Harris, claiming that he had created one of the greatest economies in the history of our country.

Harris then claimed that Trump left us “the worst unemployment since the Great Depression. Donald Trump left us the worst public health epidemic in a century.” Trump disagreed, claiming that the economy and stock market were higher even before the pandemic.

The economic talks continued; Harris using ethos from Goldman Sachs, and Wharton School claimed that her plans were better than Trump’s. Trump obviously disagreed, arguing that Harris doesn’t even have a plan. 

As the economic talks came to an end and after a talk about tariffs and other things that had nothing to do with the question. The next question was about abortion.

Roe v Wade - an establishment of the constitution that protects the right of a woman to have an abortion depending on the situation. Yet this decision was overturned in 2022, causing abortion to be banned in many states, with more continuing.

The reason why Roe v Wade is important is that it protected the right to have an abortion, with it overturned, the states now get to decide whether to ban abortion or not. Harris claims that Trump is signing an abortion ban, but Trump argues that he isn’t at all, saying that he is making the states decide.

Next was about immigration. Harris disagreed saying that Trump was the one who made it hard, causing a bill that was supposed to put 1,500 more border patrols at the border to be denied because of Trump. Trump claims that Harris and Biden did a terrible job and let people into the country. He claimed that the people who came into the country in Springfield were eating the dogs and cats.

These 3 things were highly important to the American people, and of course, there were more subjects, such as deportation, energy, foreign relations(Israel and Palestine), etc.

With the debate coming to an end. Polls were run. According to multiple sources, The Independent, BBC, and Returs, it seems that Harris won the debate. As the election draws near, it’s a 1 in 4 years chance to select the next president, so if you haven’t voted yet. Do it, and be someone who decides your future.
