Oratory Contests:
Oratory Contests for which students must present:
Send request and written copy of speech to Mr. Hover by May 2, 2023 (3:04 pm)
Invited students will present in front of an English Teacher Panel on a date TBD.
1) James R. Roebuck, Sr. (top three speeches win graduation award)
2) Speaker at Large (top speech will speak at graduation)
Suggested Speech topics:
1) My impact on society...
2) My role in civic engagement...
3) Central High School has prepared me for citizenship...
Submissions:
ALL ENTRIES MUST BE ORIGINAL, TYPED, and EMAILED TO MR. HOVER AS A PDF ATTACHMENT
Dena Rennota White Creative Writing – best poetry and/or short story portfolio – due May 9, 2023
Include the student’s name, ID number, English teacher’s name, and contest title

Topics (Creative Writing):
1) Short Story (1-4 pages)
2) poetry (single entry);
3) portfolio (poetry and/or short stories)
4) Screenplay –– (5 total entries)
Poetry Awards:
