The City of Philadelphia: Office of Arts, Culture, and the Creative Economy is financially supporting the Philadelphia Freedom Band to perform at Lanier Park!

30th and Tasker in Grays Ferry, South Philly.

Saturday, June 25th. Music starts at 1:00pm!

Come celebrate four years of Lanier Park community in Grays Ferry

Come garden with the Grays Ferry Tree Tenders with flowers from the PHS Flower Show,

Come listen to pop music performed by the Philadelphia Freedom Band,

Come drum and learn about the style & history of music we're playing called secondline and Brazilian samba with Elaine from pHonk Philly,

Come gather with Lanier Park community in collaboration with Philly Thrive!

Including a tribute to Stephen Sondheim, a transcription of music by Florence Price, and other concert band arrangements focused on nature’s waves, meadows, trees, prairies, and natural phenomena.

2022 Marching Band season starts with Band Camp May 7th at Bartrams Garden!

2021 was a rebuilding year for the Philadelphia Freedom Band. We successfully participated in 12 marching band practices at Bartram's Garden, attended the 2021 Lehigh Valley Pride, hosted a concert at St Luke and the Epiphany Episcopal Church with Philly Cheer Elite, participated in the inaugural pHonk festival, and marched in the new Philadlephia Holiday Parade.

We look forward to more community performances in 2022. Support our organization with a donation.

Concert Band Updates:

Concert band practices will continue to be held Monday nights from 7-10pm. 2111 Sansom St. Philadelphia, PA, 19103. Contact us with reasonable accommodation requests.

We will conclude the spring season with a concert at Philadelphia Episcopal Cathedral,

Sunday, April 24rd, 2022. 4pm. (Fall season dates have not yet been set)

Vaccination card and matching identifier will the checked by the President of the organization the first time you attend. Members will leave Merz Hall cleaner than we find it.

Concert Band

April 23rd, 2022. Philadelphia Episcopal Cathedral. More updates to come. Come practice Monday evenings at Lutheran Church of the Holy Communion beginning soon.

Our concert band holds two concerts annually, one in spring and the other in winter. We present a vast range of music, from classical pieces to pop tunes, centered on an interesting theme. Past themes include: Roaring Twenties, PFB in SPACE, Elements, and Water is Life.

Marching Band

We will resume Marching Band in May, 2022! Contact Sophie for more information.

The Marching Band has had a successful 2021 season from May-October 2021 including an outdoor performance at the Church of St. Luke and the Epiphany, participation in the 2021 Lehigh Valley Pride Festival, the inaugural pHonk Festival at FDR Meadows, the Philadelphia Holiday Parade.

Our marching band performs all year long. We have parades throughout the spring and summer, cheer sections for local races in the fall, and even caroling around the holidays! You can find us at events across the greater Philadelphia region, from Allentown, to Asbury Park, to downtown Philly.

You can join at any time. We're always welcoming new musicians, color guard members, or volunteers to serve as band aides. See our calendar for more details, and check us out at one of our upcoming events!

Activist Street Band

Beginning in 2021, the band began performing improvisational tunes as part of the Artistic Vision of Hayley Varhol.

We are very proud to be supported by the Philadelphia Cultural Fund.
