About Mrs. Gipson (me)
Religion wasn't a big portion of my life growing up. My Methodist grandmother would often take my sisters and me to church at the Armona Pentacostal Church. (No idea why.) We also occasionally attended Vacation Bible School at the Armona Baptist Church. It wasn't until my 5th grade year that I even heard of Adventists. My mother decided that the Armona middle school wasn't a good place for us, so with the help some local church members, she send us all to Armona Union Academy. I graduated from AUA in 1988.
I received my BA in mathematics from California State University, Fresno in 1992. At 22, my teaching career started at Liberty Middle School in Lemoore.
In 1995, I married my husband and adopted his two children. Also, in 1995, I became a Seventh-day Adventist at the Hanford SDA Church. So naturally, in 1996, I began teaching at Armona Union Academy.
I left AUA after six years to go back to the public sector. After teaching two years at Corcoran High, I found one of the best jobs I ever had at Jamison High School in Lemoore. Jamison is a continuation school, so therefore, small. I was there for eight years and really hated to leave such an awesome rewarding job.
While at Jamison, my husband and I gained guardianship of our third child. Having a house full of three teenagers (two boys, one girl) was an exciting time for us. Also in 2004, I earned my MA in Mathematics Education from Fresno Pacific University.
My husband and I moved to Auburn November of 2011 and I began teaching at Pine Hills in August of 2012. My job has changed quite a bit since my first year, but I have really enjoyed befriending so many in this community.
When not teaching, I love to travel. I've had the privilege to visit 98% of the states, China, England, Scotland, Ireland, Ecuador, and Canada. I also enjoy reading and spending time with my family.
Thank you all for your trust, friendship, support and prayers.
