Please pay close attention to the following GRADING INSTRUCTIONS:
Ensure that ALL grades are published before the grading window closes. If any grades remain unpublished by 11:59 PM on September 30, 2024, you must submit a copy of the missing grades to the Grade Manager by 10:00 AM on October 1, 2024. Use the Class Summary Report (directions) as the official record of your missing grades. Grade Managers require an official Synergy report to enter any outstanding marks.
Please remember that you can publish (and republish) grades for a class as many times as needed before the grade posting window closes. It’s recommended to finalize your grade submission at least one hour before the deadline to account for any unexpected issues.
Do not assign the letter grades I, N, UC, or W unless explicitly instructed or approved by the Grade Manager or an administrator.
You MUST ensure that your gradebooks are configured correctly (i.e., Grading Categories and Weights are accurate) in accordance with AP 5121.3. Make sure there is a sufficient number and equitable distribution of assignments across all grading categories: Classwork, Independent Practice, and Assessments. For any errors or adjustments, please submit a Help Desk ticket.
Do not leave any student without a grade if they have been enrolled in your class for 21 days or more. Keep in mind that grades will not be published for students without at least one graded assignment in the gradebook, unless you apply an override. If a student fails to submit an assignment or misses one due to an unexcused absence, you must enter a '0' for that assignment.
If you have a student you've never seen in class, first contact the Guidance Office to determine if they are receiving Home and Hospital services, are on long-term suspension, or if they are a 'missed' no-show who needs to be withdrawn from the system. For accurate grade submission, please consult the student’s Guidance Counselor and/or Grade Level Administrator.
If you have any students newly added to your class roster, contact their Guidance Counselors to check for any incoming grades for your class. Don’t wait until the last day or hour to address missing grades. If the student transferred from another class, ask the original teacher for a grade report. If you're unsure who the original teacher is, reach out to the student’s Guidance Counselor.
If you have any students who have recently been dropped from your class, please generate a Detailed Progress Report (refer to the instructions under Grade Reports) and be ready to share it with their new teachers.
Please note that you are responsible for submitting grades for every student on your roster EVEN IF:
you've never seen the student;
the student has never attended your class;
the student attended for a very short time;
the student is physically attending another class and hasn't had a schedule change;
the student just got a schedule change;
the student is going to get a schedule change;
the student transferred out of your class;
you signed withdrawal papers;
the student transferred from another class/school/country; or
the parents/administrators/counselors are going to request a schedule change.
