Maya Smith is currently completing her senior year as a dance major in the Jim Henson Visual and Performing Arts Academy at Northwestern High. She previously studied dance at Hyattsville Middle in the Creative Performing Arts program. While at Northwestern High School, she engages in leadership as an Academic Intern for English Language Arts 12, a choreographer, a member of Peer Forward, a part of the NHSDA dance ensemble Royale Dance Company, as well as, the National Honor Society in Dance Arts. She received an award for her activity in the National Honor Society in Dance Arts. She has also furthered her training by participating in several winter and spring dance concerts, the Prince George's County Public Schools Dance Showcase, performing an award-winning student choreography piece, and producing her own work. She plans to continue her involvement in the performing arts during college and will be majoring in Psychology.
