Academy of Finance

Welcome to the Academy of Finance!

Overview

This program is only for students zoned to attend Eleanor Roosevelt High School. The Academy of Business & Finance is part of an academic program, "a school within a school” that provides courses to prepare high school students for employment and advancement in the finance and accounting industries as well as prepare students for post-secondary education in finance- and accounting-related majors or any concentrated program requiring a strong foundation in business, social studies, math, and language arts. Students are required to complete a college-level course as well as participate in an internship program.

The Academy of Business & Finance has two pathways, Accounting and Finance. The Accounting Pathway provides students with a comprehensive study and an application of accounting principles used in a wide range of business situations. The extended use of technology is an essential component of this program. An Internship in the 2nd semester of the students’ senior year is also part of the program.

The Finance Pathway is part of the National Academy Foundation. NAF is a leader in the movement to prepare young people for college and career success. For 30 years, NAF has refined a proven educational model which includes industry-focused curricula, work-based learning experiences, and business partner expertise. Students learn the basics of personal finance, develop techniques for making wise consumer decisions, master economic principles, and learn how businesses operate.
