Learning Together, Achieving Together ... The Accokeek Way!

Dear Parents,

We are rescheduling our "Partnering to Raise the Bar Night" originally scheduled for Tuesday, January 14, 2020 due to the lack of parental participation and feedback. We are sending out this parent inquiry survey in the hopes to identify a new date which may be more conducive for parents to attend. For the best interest of our students and learning community, we highly encourage ALL parents complete the survey.

Thank you in advance for your participation and we look forward to receiving your feedback.

Required Training for Volunteers/Chaperones

The safety of our students and staff is a top priority at Accokeek Academy. Although we enjoy volunteers partaking in our school activities and events, due to the recent policy change, all volunteers and chaperones MUST get a fingerprint clearance at the Prince George's County Sasscer Administration Building. Once your fingerprints have been taken, you must bring the yellow portion of the clearance to the main office at least fourteen (14) days prior to the field trip or the day that you plan to volunteer.

The fee for a Fingerprint Background Check is $62.25. Acceptable payments for fingerprinting services include: cash, money order, Debit/Visa/MasterCard.

The Communications office has established a link to the required training modules on SafeSchools for volunteers/chaperones and contractors to access. All volunteers/chaperones, except one-time event volunteers, are required to complete the assigned SafeSchools training modules prior to volunteering/chaperoning. Upon completion of each training module, the volunteer/chaperone should provide the school with a copy of their certificates of completion. Three modules have been assigned to volunteers/chaperones to complete. They are: PGCPS Mandatory Reporting of Child Abuse and Neglect; PGCPS Student Safety Procedural Changes; and Bloodborne Pathogen Exposure Prevention. Volunteers/Chaperones should provide the school with a certificate of completion for each of these modules prior to volunteering/chaperoning. Directions for accessing the link are attached. Please do not hesitate to call 301-952-6774 if you have any questions.

All visitors are welcome to Accokeek Academy. Upon arrival you must enter through the front door of the building and report to the main office. There you will show identification, sign in and obtain a visitor’s badge. You will need to indicate where you will be visiting and the purpose of the visit. At the conclusion of your visit, you will need to report back to the main office to sign out. Visits to the classroom during the instructional day are for observations only. Teachers are not permitted to stop instruction to engage in a conversation and/or conference regarding your child. If you wish to engage in dialogue with the teacher regarding your child, you will need to schedule an appointment/conference with the teacher during non-instructional time. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
