ABOUT THE SOUTHERN OHIO PGA
The Southern Ohio PGA is one of 41 sections of the PGA of America serving 520 PGA of America Members and Associates in Southern Ohio.
The mission of the Southern Ohio PGA (“Section”) is to create an environment for our members and the game to thrive. We do so by being a forward-thinking association, focused on first-class programs and events to advance our members, our communities, and the game of golf in Southern Ohio, while honoring the history and values the game teaches.
The PGA REACH Southern Ohio Foundation (“Foundation”) is the philanthropic arm of the Section with a mission of Improving Lives through the Community of Golf. Programming is focused on three pillars: Youth, Military, and Inclusion. Programs under these pillars include but are not limited to, junior golf, PGA HOPE, Smiling Fore Life, and scholarships.
Both the Section and Foundation are dependent upon each other for support and success. The two organizations have separate Boards of Directors but work closely with one another on program development, fundraising efforts, and alignment of their individual missions.
THE OPPORTUNITY
Title: Operations Director
Position Description: We’re looking for a motivated, energetic, and detail-oriented professional to lead the day-to-day organization and coordination of Foundation and Section programs. This person will do so while ensuring the efficient execution of programs, events, and member services. This role requires a strategic leader who can manage operations, streamline processes, and foster relationships with stakeholders, including PGA members and associates, golf clubs, sponsors, donors and volunteers, and many others in the golf community.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Foundation Programs
Lead PGA REACH Southern Ohio Foundation programs to include PGA HOPE, PGA WORKS Fellowship, Drive, Chip & Putt, Ohio Women’s Open, and other programs as assigned
Manage fundraising efforts at the Play Yellow Birdie Bash, Stars and Stripes Pro-Am, and all other fundraising initiatives
Maintain, service, and enhance existing donor relations through donor CRM
Section Programs
Plan, organize, and execute Southern Ohio PGA events including membership meetings, board meetings, and other in-person events
Coordinate and supervise education programs including scheduling, set-up, publicity, printed materials, collateral, staging, etc.
Assist the Executive Director in the solicitation of new business and potential sponsors
Maintain, service, and enhance existing sponsor relations
Track and execute agreed contract terms resulting in fulfillment report at year-end
Serve as a liaison with the Membership Committee and other committees/task force groups as assigned
Finances
Assist in the development and implementation of the Southern Ohio PGA Business Plan and the annual budget.
Along with the Executive Director, serve as the administrative contact person for the Section Administration Program (SAP), the Association Development Program (ADP), and other communications with PGA of America headquarters
Assist the Executive Director in financial oversight and reporting
Review and maintain Southern Ohio PGA contracts and agreements and in some cases negotiate or assist in the negotiation of contracts and agreements.
Along with the Executive Director, ensure compliance with the SOPGA Bylaws, Strategic Plan, and Standard Operating Policies and Procedures
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
Including, but not limited to, the following:
Must have experience in the golf industry - PGA Member or Associate a positive.
Self-starter who is driven to learn and improve skills
Excellent computer skills, particularly with the Google Suite
Outstanding problem-solving skills, attention to detail, energetic and highly organized
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines
A team player with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, cross-functional team environment
Available to travel and work overtime occasionally, including weekends
Valid Driver’s License Required
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
The Section will provide compensation and benefits package commensurate with experience and qualifications. This includes but is not limited to:
Compensation: $60,000-$75,000 based on experience; this position is an exempt, benefit-eligible position
Group Health Insurance (Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance - 80% paid by the Southern Ohio PGA)
401k Retirement Plan (up to 5% employer matching contribution); eligible after 90 days
Relocation allowance available for successful candidates (if relocating to the area)
Paid vacation as outlined in the Employee Handbook
Use of company-provided cell phone and computer
PGA dues paid, if applicable
Mileage reimbursement for work-related travel and access to a company vehicle for approved use
