ABOUT THE NORTHERN CALIFORNIA PGA
The Northern California PGA is a member-based professional golf association headquartered in Vacaville, CA. Organized in 1920 to promote interest in the game of golf, the birth of this association was heralded as an important step in the advancement of the game in this district. It is one of the forty-one designated Sections of the PGA of America; the world’s largest working professional sports organization. With over 1,100 dedicated PGA Professionals and Associates at over 400 golf facilities in Northern California and Northwestern Nevada, the association continues to have a positive impact on the game of golf and communities both regionally and nationally.
THE OPPORTUNITY
The Northern California PGA Operations Manager will be responsible for the organization and coordination of office activities, as well as the execution of the myriad tasks and lines of business relative to creating success for the 1,100 Members and Associates of the NCPGA, allied associations, and the golf industry. This position reports to the Executive Director.
We are looking for a teammate that can perform these key tasks:
Organize multiple event aspects in a timely manner.
Multi-task given deadlines in a 12 months of activity environment.
Communicate effectively with Section staff, NCPGA Board of Directors, Membership, and Allied Associations.
Represent the NCPGA in a professional manner.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Along with the Executive Director, you will be responsible for the organization and coordination of office activities, as well as the execution of the myriad tasks and lines of business relative to creating success for the 1,100 Members and Associates of the NCPGA, allied associations, and the golf industry.
Ensure compliance with both Federal and State employment laws, engaging counsel as and when necessary. Ensure compliance with the NCPGA Employee Handbook policies. Ensure the NCPGA office and materials/representations and postings follow PGA of America branding guidelines (logo usage).
Business Development/Sponsorship:
Assist the Executive Director in the solicitation of new business and potential sponsors
Maintain, service, and enhance existing sponsor relations
Track and execute agreed to contract terms resulting in fulfillment report at year-end
Marketing/Communications:
Promote PGA of America programs and services to the NCPGA members, allied associations, and the Northern California golf community
Along with the Executive Director represent the NCPGA as a spokesperson at various events and activities, including live interviews via radio and TV
Membership Education & Support:
Coordinate and supervise education programs, working with the NCPGA
Education Committee, including scheduling, set-up, publicity, printed materials, collateral, staging, etc.
Assist our chapters and divisions with administrative needs
Tournament Operations:
Along with the Executive Director and Tournament Director serve as liaison to the PGA TOUR, PGA of America, USGA, regional allied associations, and nationally based member programs
Ensure the NCPGA tournament staff administers the tournament program so that it is conducted in accordance with the PGA of America Tournament
Guidelines and NCPGA Tournament Philosophy as defined in the NCPGA
Tournament Rules & Regulations, and Policies & Procedures.
Finance & Legal:
Assist in the development and implementation of the NCPGA Business and Operating Plan and the annual budget.
Along with the Executive Director, serve as the administrative contact person for the Section Administration Program (SAP), the Association
Development program (ADP), and other communications with PGA of America headquarters
Assist the Executive Director in financial oversight and reporting
Review and maintain NCPGA contracts and agreements and in some cases negotiate or assist in the negotiation of contracts and agreements.
Along with the Executive Director, ensure compliance with the NCPGA Bylaws, Strategic Plan, and Operating Policies and Procedures
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
Including, but not limited to, the following:
College or University degree is preferred.
Must have experience in the golf industry - PGA Member or Associate a positive.
Experience working with Board of Directors, Committee, and volunteer environment preferred.
An enthusiastic self-starter.
The ability to handle novel and diverse work issues daily and able to resolve problems, manage conflict, and make effective decisions under pressure.
Strong interpersonal skills to ensure a cooperative environment within the Association, Staff, Section Membership, sponsors, and the community.
Strong financial acumen, including but not limited to communicating with PGA of America headquarters, managing and developing budgets, creating business plans, managing financial assets, banking, and reporting.
Excellent leadership skills.
Proficient computer experience and qualified for operations of information systems and programs related to electronic communications and various programs including financial dashboards.
Strong communication skills and professional demeanor.
Positive and upbeat personality, high-energy.
Ability to work independently and have a creative mindset.
Ability to travel frequently within the geographic boundaries of the NCPGA and work some weekends and/or holidays.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
The Section will provide compensation and benefits packages commensurate with experience and qualifications. This includes but is not limited to:
Salary is commensurate with experience, base salary expected to be $80,000-$100,000
Auto mileage reimbursement for work travel
Use of company-provided computer and cell phone
PGA Dues paid, if applicable
Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance
Retirement plan with employer match after 1 year of employment
Paid vacation/holidays as outlined in the NCPGA Employee Handbook
