ABOUT METUCHEN GOLF & COUNTRY CLUB
Edison, NJ | Founded in 1915, Metuchen Golf and Country Club is proud to celebrate 110 years as a second home to its members. The club is nestled in the heart of Edison, New Jersey, and offers a friendly, family-oriented, and active environment. Generations have grown up here, and continue to call the club their home away from home.
Metuchen Golf and Country Club is known for its historic 18-hole golf course but also features a beautiful clubhouse, pool, and vibrant social life. On any given day, you may find entire families enjoying the club and its numerous amenities. Whether experiencing the pristine grounds of the golf course, dining in one of our inviting settings, or enjoying a splash in the pool, Metuchen Golf and Country Club has it all.
The course is friendly to players of all golfing abilities and experience but, at over 6,700 yards, it is still long enough to challenge the big hitters. The club has hosted several significant MGA, NJSGA, and NJPGA tournaments with the competitors always impressed by the layout.
Many men's and ladies' groups, family outings, and fun competitions are available to all members. You can always find a game, and there is always space for your group to hit the links. Their energetic golf staff is excited to help.
The course conditions are considered some of the best in the state. When finished playing, you will realize what a gem of a course this is.
110 Years of History
Metuchen Golf and Country Club was built in 1915. The club was originally 9 holes, designed by the golf professional and renowned greenskeeper Charles Lang. The full 18 holes were completed in 1931 and have undergone several changes since. The course continues to prove itself time and time again against top-level competition.
The small, well-guarded greens, tree-lined narrow fairways, and stingy rough provide plenty of challenges for players of all skill levels.
The front nine is long, with two par 4s playing well over 400 yards, and one uphill par 3 that plays much longer than the distance on the card. At almost 3,500 yards, you often hit most of your clubs on the front nine alone.
The back nine winds around the outside edge of the property with out-of-bounds along the right side of almost every hole. With two par 5s that are reachable by longer hitters, you may post some good scores on this side. You must be accurate or trees, out of bounds and well-placed bunkers will make approaching the undulating, slick greens quite challenging.
The signature hole, the 14th, has the famous Metuchen tree in the center of the fairway at 160 yards from the green. With a wide landing area, you must decide which side of the tree to play your tee shot. Then you must negotiate a greenside pond before attempting to putt on a green that is very difficult to read. It is a hole to remember.
