Buffalo, Wyoming is a beautiful small town nestled up against the eastern slope of the Big Horn Mountains. Nestled in the middle of our picturesque community is one of the prettiest public golf courses that you will find anywhere. Established in 1934, folks travel from near and far to play the greatest game in the world at our phenomenal course.
Buffalo Golf Club is an 18-hole public facility with stunning mountain views and beautiful mature tree lines. The golf course has earned a reputation as one of the top courses in the state and has been called "a hidden gem". Buffalo Golf Club is a multi-award winning course, continuously earning a "4 Star" ranking from "Golf Digest" magazine and in 2009 was named the best municipal course in Wyoming.
The course offers five sets of tees to accommodate golfers of all skill levels. Players of all ages and abilities are welcome to play on a daily basis. Season passes are available and are one of the most reasonable in the area.

POSITION OVERVIEW
Title: Golf Course Superintendent
Reports to: General Manager
Supervises: Golf Course Maintenance Staff
Position Description: Buffalo Golf Club is seeking an innovative leader to lead a motivated grounds staff. The Golf Course Superintendent should take pride in providing an exceptional on-course experience through pristine playing conditions. The successful candidate will be responsible for organizing, directing and overseeing all facets of the department, including, but not limited to staffing, training, chemical/fertilization plans and financial controls for the department.
The Superintendent directs and participates in the maintenance of the golf course greens, tees, fairways, roughs, bunkers, cart paths, clubhouse, and surrounding areas. This individual will need to be very well organized and an effective communicator to team members, management and golfers. The ideal candidate will place a focus on being a team-building leader that will be culture oriented and communicative with the General Manager, Board of Directors and the golfing community on the vision for the golf course. Superb playing conditions and course surroundings should be the result of well-developed and efficient policies.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Team Management
Recruits, trains, and supervises all maintenance team members.
Creates a successful culture through effective leadership and team member empowerment.
Collaborative leader and team builder.
History of developing a positive, employee-centric work culture and mentoring team members.
Communicate thoughts, ideas, and instructions to maintenance staff as well as management.
Instill a sense of pride in teamwork.
Conduct daily maintenance staff meetings.
Golf Course Maintenance
Responsible for all phases of golf course maintenance as well as clubhouse surroundings.
Work closely with Head Golf Professional on any issues related to programming.
Oversee effective execution of day-to-day golf course maintenance practices.
Provide suggestions to achieve the most efficient and highest quality product possible.
Maintain the quality and cleanliness of the maintenance facility and its surroundings.
Advanced knowledge of agronomy and turfgrass management practices.
Working knowledge of golf facility construction principles practices and methods.
Coordinate with the general manager to plan all maintenance and project work.
Evaluate course conditions and develop a plan for providing excellent golf conditions: Firm, Fast & most importantly Green.
Ensure that detailed work is superb.
Provide smooth and fast greens.
Exceptional bunker maintenance.
Equipment Maintenance & Safety
Develops a thorough preventative maintenance schedule for all equipment.
Oversees team members in proper and safe operation of all equipment.
Takes ownership of property.
Responsible for inventory control and oversees the equipment maintenance program.
Assist the Restaurant Manager/Head Golf Professional with any maintenance needs.
Budgeting
Supervises and controls all maintenance expenses: Operations, payroll, supplies & chemicals.
Possesses strong budget management skills with success in labor efficiency.
Prepares the annual budgets for the maintenance and capital improvement of course properties.
Approves all expenditures and exercises cost control measures to keep operating and capital expenses in line with the expected budget.
Maintain and produce various monthly business reports, forecasts, and plans accordingly.
Work with the General Manager to prepare the annual budget, including all expenses within the department.
Communication & Continuing Improvement
Develop and deliver regularly scheduled communication to golfers and season pass holders.
Keeps accurate and complete records on payroll, inventory, weather data, maintenance procedures, pesticide applications, etc.
Communicate regularly with the General Manager to discuss activities, goals, and plans.
Participates in department head/committee and board meetings as requested.
Irrigation
Provide recommendations and/or complete watering schedule based upon course conditions.
Collaborate with the town to ensure updates on the water situation.
Maintenance of golf course irrigation system, including irrigation heads, valves, and mainlines.
Monitoring of golf course for irrigation-related problems/moisture levels to determine water needs.
Become familiar with the irrigation system and all of its components, repair, and maintenance.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
Including, but not limited to, the following:
Minimum 3-5 years as Superintendent or Lead Assistant Superintendent.
Class A standing within the GCSAA
Possess a valid driver's license
Minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience
Chemical and Pesticide Certificates
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
The club will provide compensation and benefits package commensurate with experience and qualifications. This includes but is not limited to:
$50,000 - $80,000 base salary per year depending on experience.
Retirement plan available with 3% company match.
Annual bonus based on performance.
Reimbursement for approved travel to educational meetings.
GCSAA national and chapter association dues.
Educational allowance.
