At the conclusion of the 2024 PGA Professional Championship, the TOP 8 on the PGA Cup Points List will secure a position on the 2024 PGA Cup Team. Following the 2024 PGA Championship at Valhalla, the 9th and 10th positions on the Team will be finalized.
The top 20 finishers in the 2024 PGA Professional Championship will earn points toward becoming a PGA Cup Team Member.
At the conclusion of the 2024 PGA Professional Championship, in the event of a tie for 8th place on the PGA Cup Points List, a hole-by-hole play-off would follow the final round.
NOTE: Players in a position to be involved in this play-off, but who missed the cut, will be informed that should a play-off be necessary, it will take place following the final round. It is the players’ option as to whether he/she stays for such a play-off.
At the conclusion of the 2024 PGA Professional Championship, in the event of a tie for 9th, 10th, or 11th place on the PGA Cup Points List, a hole-by-hole play-off will also take place following the final round (same note as above applies). This play-off is required to identify the potential 9th, 10th and 1st alternate positions on the PGA Cup Team, in the event that none of the top 20 PGA Professionals advancing to the 2024 PGA Championship plays well enough to earn points to move into the 9th or 10th positions on the PGA Cup Point Standings.
Any PGA Professional making the cut at the 2024 PGA Championship will earn points toward becoming a PGA Cup Team Member. At the PGA Championship, if more than 80 players advance to the final round, any player making the cut will receive points in diminishing 5-point increments.
At the conclusion of the 2024 PGA Championship at Valhalla, in the event a player earns enough points at the to tie for 9th or 10th positions, the 9th & 10th positions will then be determined by how well those players finished at the 2024 PGA Professional Championship. The method for breaking the tie will start with the lowest overall finish; if still tied, then the lowest final round score; if still tied, then the lowest 3rd round score, 2nd round score, and then the 1st round score. If this procedure still does not break the tie, a hole-by-hole scorecard play-off will start at hole #18 of the final round and continue back until a winner is determined.
