What is Math Pentathlon?

In Math Pentathlon club, students learn to play 5 math games and compete in the tournament against 6th and 7th graders across the Midwest.

Practice

We will practice every Wednesday that we are in school from 2:30-3:30 until the tournament (See schedule). Students are encouraged to bring games home and practice with family.

Attendance

We have only about 20 practices, attendance is super important.

When & Where?

We meet every school day Wednesday for practice in Room D103 from 2:30-3:30.

The tournament is Saturday, April 25, 2026 from 7:45 am - ~4:30 pm at Ben Davis High School

Parent/Guardian Involvement

1 parent/guardian/adult of each student MUST volunteer at the tournament. (However, if you have limited English proficiency, please let me know, your child can still participate.)

Parents/Guardians should play games with the students when they bring them home to practice.

Requirements

All students MUST compete in the tournament on 4/25/2026! Parents must drive students to the tournament and must volunteer one adult family member as a game monitor at the tournament on April 25, 2026 from 7:45 am - ~4:30 pm at Ben Davis. (However, if you don’t speak English, that is ok, your child can still participate.)

All students must purchase a T-Shirt for $20 by 11/19/2025. (T-Shirt scholarships available upon request if your family qualifies.) Tournament fees are being paid by the PTSA! Thank you PTSA!!!

Students must have ~80% (16/20) attendance or higher (If you are in a sport, check your schedule carefully, you may not be able to do both.)

Parents must pick up student at Southport Middle School @ Door 3 (Main Office Door) at 3:30 pm. (3 late pick-ups will disqualify your child from participating in the club. Accountability Doc)
