*File Storage* and *office applications* - We do use word processing, spreadsheets, etc. as well. Those files need to go somewhere where we can share them easily and where different people can work on them (sometimes, at the same time). G Suite (Google Drive, Docs, etc.) is what we currently use for that purpose. Learn how to use Google Drive (explore the Google learning Centre to find out about how to use all the other apps they have).
Our take on file storage and office applications: To offer us some of the basics for clerical/office work the CoLab currently turns to the G Suite. No matter if draft or final version, try to keep CoLab related documents in GDrive. Get others involved in co-writing, co-editing, etc. at the appropriate stage.
To access the service you will have to create a Google Account. Many people already have one because they are using Gmail or because they are part of an organisation that uses Google's services for one thing or anther.
If you do not have an account yet please create one. You can do that here. Fill in the information and follow the steps as you are being guided through them.
Then, let the technicians know that you have a Google Account. They will then be able to give you the rights to create and edit CoLab documents, folders, etc. Send it to colab@permaculture.org.uk
There are a variety of applications that one can use. Google Drive is about storing and organising files. Google docs to edit text documents. Google Slides for presentations. Etc. Since this is a highly complex domain use the Google Suite Learning Centre to get you started. It has many very useful resources and explains many many things for all the different apps.
