To honor Sheri, we aim to do whatever is needed to make South's musicians the best they can be.
In May of 2025, we purchased 8 quality chairs for our musicians to use while they practice and perform.
Our goal is to have at least 30. Only 22 to go!

A great teacher impacts a child’s knowledge, motivation, and character. Sheri Freed was that teacher. Many students knew her as Mrs. Detweiler, the dynamic and energetic sixth-grade teacher at West Rockhill Elementary School and Pennridge South Middle School. Sheri was truly loved by her students because of her unique talent for making every person feel special. Her passion for teaching and infectious laughter contributed to the genuine fondness that our students and staff shared for Sheri. Unfortunately, Mrs. Freed’s teaching career was cut short due to a long battle with cancer.
Those close to Sheri know that she loved not only teaching but music as well. She played the alto saxophone in middle school and high school, and later she had the pleasure of watching her daughter, Tahlia, perform in vocal and instrumental concerts. To honor Sheri and her love of music, our South family would like to give back to our music program. With the help of donations, we provide South students in need with instrument rentals, music t-shirt purchases, concert clothes, and field trip funds. Sheri was very proud of South’s music program, and we would like to honor her memory by giving more students the ability to participate in all of the fantastic opportunities our music programs offer.
