Pender County Schools operating under Plan B, reviewing latest guidance on moving to Plan A

On Thursday, Sept. 17, North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper announced that elementary schools in the state have the option to return to in-person learning on a full-time basis under Plan A guidelines beginning no earlier than October 5. Pender County Schools is working diligently with State and local officials to collect and review all the information related to this potential change. The district will have more details as further guidance is received.

PCS will continue to operate schools under Plan B as previously approved by the Pender County Board of Education. As a reminder, K-8 students have been split into two groups (Cohort A and Cohort B). Cohort A receives in-person instruction on Monday and Tuesday and Cohort B receives in-person instruction on Thursday and Friday. All K-8 students take part in online learning on Wednesday.

Traditional high school students are divided into three groups (Cohort A, Cohort B and Cohort C). Each Cohort receives in-person instruction for one full week (Monday-Friday) and then takes part in online learning for two weeks before returning to in-person instruction.
