i-Ready is a comprehensive assessment and instruction program that allows teachers to provide a more personalized learning experience for students. Pelham City Schools students in grades K-8 will complete an adaptive diagnostic assessment three times during the school year. Based on the data from the diagnostic, i-Ready will create a personalized learning path for each student to provide support on identified skills. Teachers also have the ability to push skill-focused lessons to their students based on standards they are covering in the classroom. Pelham City Schools' utilizes i-Ready for both reading and math instruction and support. The icon to the right is what your student will look for on their Clever dashboard.

Reading Horizons Discovery is the core phonics program for all students in grades K-3. For kindergarten, teachers provide engaging and effective direct instruction in the classroom on the building blocks of the English language. The 1st-3rd grade curriculum continues the systematic and sequential approach with explicit, research-based phonics instruction done in the classroom that builds off those foundational skills taught in kindergarten. Teachers at both Pelham Oaks and Pelham Ridge utilize this curriculum to facilitate student transfer of decoding skills into fluent reading. Reading Horizons Discovery also offers a software component. These lessons follow the deliberate sequence of instruction, practice activities, and assessments. Elevate teaches students to identify sound patterns, determine whether a vowel should be pronounced short or long, and properly split words into syllables. Like Reading Horizons Discovery, Elevate is designed to help students transfer foundational skills to connected text while learning about a wide range of topics. Elevate offers a software component that provides students individualized reading instruction that targets gaps in their reading skills. Odysseyware is an online learning program with a robust course library of standards-aligned, dynamic curriculum. Pelham Oaks Elementary and Pelham Ridge Elementary teachers and students in grades 3-5 will be using courses in this virtual platform for all three student learning options for the 2020-2021 school year. Students that have chosen the remote learning option will receive their core content instruction through this virtual platform. Traditional and blended students will be able to access specific content assigned by their traditional classroom teacher.
