"Julianne is a journalist, writing first for Colorlines and now The Nation, along with many other publications, focusing on immigration and education issues. She covered the 2016 election with a series on looking at the election from the perspective of an immigrant. She believes in writing stories that center the narrative away from the typical white male focus and centering the voices of people of color and one of her foci is to write about activism, sharing the stories of young people who are leading the charge against injustice."
