Welcome to LETRS®. The New Mexico Public Education Department and Lexia LETRS® Team would like to thank you for your dedication to our students. You are about to embark on an awesome journey of personal and professional development with LETRS.
Upon your first login to the LETRS platform, you are required to change your password.
Once you change your password, the course will land on the Introduction page. Click on the Session 1 circle to watch some video segments that orient you to the course.
Upon completing the Introduction session, you will advance to Unit 1. The first activity is the Units 1-4 Pretest that assesses your current understanding of the systems of the English language. The purpose of this is to establish a baseline of what you know before instruction. You are not expected to excel on this pretest, and please don’t feel you should look up information. Please set aside approximately 30 minutes as the pre-test must be completed in a single sitting.
Following the pretest, you'll see the session numbers and titles for Unit 1. The course is "gated", meaning that current content must be completed before new content will become available. Ideally, you will complete the online content for the particular Unit and Part prior to your facilitated session so that you have the background knowledge and understandings that your facilitator will be discussing.
You will participate in facilitated sessions with each unit to dive deeper into the content. The facilitated sessions are broken up into Part 1 and Part 2. Part 1 will cover the first half of the Unit, Part 2 will cover the second half of the Unit. You may be in a cohort facilitated by a national LETRS facilitator or with a local, district LETRS facilitator. You will receive an email from Sarah Martin at NMPED or your district with information about when your cohort will meet.
Attendance at all facilitated sessions and completions of the online content is required for all participants. Participants must have a score of at least 80% on all assessments (unit and volume) to be eligible for a Reading Endorsement.
