Term 3 starts for children
You know it is nearly Christmas when you walk into every classroom and can hear beautiful Christmas songs being rehearsed! A huge well done to our Year 6 pupils who performed on the stage at The Forum last week alongside several other schools. Their singing was so good that other schools commented on it!
Well done also to our Pupil Voice team for organising a very successful fundraiser on Friday. The costumes looked amazing and we raised £245 for Bath Cats and Dogs Home.
Christmas Events
We are very much looking forward to welcoming you to our Christmas performances and events, starting this Thursday with our nursery. On the day of your child's performance, please send children from Year 1 and Year 2 in their school uniform and we will change them into their costumes at school. Children in Reception should come to school in their costume with their uniform in bag to change into afterwards. Children in Year 3, 4 or 5 may wear a seasonal jumper with their school uniform on their performance day, unless they are dressing as one of the characters of course!
All children may wear a Christmas jumper on the day of our Christmas dinner, Wednesday 17th December.
Our events are NOT ticketed but please be mindful that we have limited space and cannot accommodate extended family.
Reminders
Breakfast Club
If children are attending the 7.30 or 7.45 am Breakfast Club, please park scooters outside the small hall entrance door while it is dark in the mornings. These can be moved to the storage racks a bit later on.
Christmas Meal
The deadline is 10.00 pm this Thursday, 11th December to book via School Grid.
Clubs
If your child would be interested in joining cheerleading after school on a Friday, please use the link below to register your interest. Alternatively drop the office an email with the subject line cheerleading.
bathallstarz@aol.co.uk
We will let you know in the new year if this club has enough interest to run.
Next week we will be sending out the clubs list for Terms 3 and 4. Sign up will be on Arbor for school run clubs and directly through Evo Sports for additional paid clubs.
Class News
Find out what we have been up to on our school new page, our class pages and on Face Book.
Home Learning
The button below will take you to this week's home learning for every year group. Home learning is designed to enable children to practice skills they will need in school and so it is really important that they spend some time over the week on this home learning.
Why not join the winter badge competition; an exciting event where two winners will have their designs featured in the apps and WIN Doodle goodie packs!
How to take part
1. Print out the template
2. Design a winter-themed badge
3. Take a photo of the design and send them to doodlecompetitions@discoveryed.com before midnight on December 31st.

EYFS Updates
PSJ BITESIZE TERM 2 Sixth Challenge - Scissor Skills
Scissor Skills
Learning to use scissors is a tricky skill for children to develop. Below are the different types of scissors that we use to support children to master this skill.
Loop Scissors
Loop scissors help children to understand and feel the pressure needed to make scissors open and close to cut.
Double Holed Scissors
The child puts their thumb and fingers in the first set of holes and the adults supports opening, closing and control from the back set holes.
Spring Loaded Scissors
Similar to the loop scissors, spring loaded scissors help children with pressure whilst developing being able to hold scissors correctly.
Child Friendly Scissors
These are the scissors that we use in school. They have a rounded point and we teach children to hold them safely. We also teach how to transport them safely.
Left Handed Scissors
If your child is left handed we do give them left handed scissors.
Remember all children develop at different rates.
Challenge
Make a toilet roll character. Snip the toilet roll for hair. Draw their face with pencils, felt tips or crayons.
FUN FACT FOR PARENTS
The most expensive pair of scissors cost £27550. These Handmade Bonsai Scissors are made by Hirakawa, the only traditional scissor maker left in Japan. He has been perfecting his craft for roughly five decades. Still utilizing ancient methods, his scissors can take over a week to create, four times longer to forge than the typical knife. Hirakawa uses actual carbon steels which have all the properties you want in a good set of bonsai tools from edge retention, to sharpness, hand made quality and hardness.
Evo Sports at PSJ
This week in ASC we have continued with the Christmas Theme. The children have started making some festive paper chains to decorate the hall, they have also continued with our Christmas crafts and we even wrote some letters to Santa to give to our special visitor.
