Thank you! It was a surprise and an honour to be presented on Friday with the Peasedown St John Community Civic Award. Thank you to anyone who voted. I must also thank and recognise the hard work of all our staff here at school who make up our very special and hardworking team.
Classes next year
We aim to let children and parents know about their classes for next year in next week's newsletter. Most classes will move up as they are to their new year group and new teacher. This year, we have decided to reshuffle the children in Year 3 as they move into Year 4 and also to shuffle the children in Year 4 as they move into Year 5. Teachers will talk to the children about this over the course of this week.
Class News
Find out what we have been up to on our class pages and on Face Book.
Home Learning
The button below will take you to this week's home learning for every year group. Home learning is designed to enable children to practice skills they will need in school and so it is really important that they spend some time over the week on this home learning.
SEND Updates
Your views are sought
Bath & North East Somerset’s Local Area Partnership will undergo a joint Ofsted and the Care Quality Commission (CQC) Area SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) inspection this month. This is a routine, scheduled inspection which looks at how effectively local services work together to support children and young people with SEND. It is not an inspection of individual schools or early years settings.
Ofsted and CQC have asked that views are gathered from across the local area.
Parent and carer survey:
For parents and carers of children and young people aged 0–25 with SEND in Bath & North East Somerset.

PSJ BITESIZE Term 6 - Transitions
Starting Reception
The first day at primary school can be exciting but also nerve-wracking, for you and your child. Starting school is a big step for children and it is normal for all children to have worries and fears. Here are some practical tips that you can work on with your little one to ease the transition from the cbeebies website.
Seven tips to help prepare for primary school https://www.bbc.co.uk/cbeebies/grownups/how-to-prepare-your-child-for-primary-school#:~:text=Communication%20is%20key&text=Tell%20them%20the%20name%20of,what%20is%20going%20to%20happen.
Starting Year 1
Learning in reception is mostly play-based. Your child has lots of freedom to choose their own activities and can move on to something else when they choose. In year 1, learning becomes more formal, subject-based and adult-directed. There is still play-based learning but not as much as they are used to in Reception. The following website has some useful information about how to prepare your cold for Year 1

OPAL and Forest School Updates
Forest School Clothing
A reminder that if your child is doing Forest School, they MUST bring a change of shoes or wellie, waterproof trousers and a coat.
Many thanks
Evo Sports at PSJ
In PE this week with EVO Sports, despite the unpredictable weather conditions we have been able to practise our cricket skills.
In Year 2 we were working on catching, bowling and batting.
Year 5 worked on all types of bowling including spin bowling using a twisting motion with their fingers.
We obviously used dodge balls as we were inside. We look forward to more sunshine
After School Sports Clubs
Please don’t forget there are still spaces for Y1,2 and 3 Football Club on Tuesday, Y4,5 and 6 Nerf Club on Wednesday and Y4,5 and 7 Football club on Thursday.
Many thanks
Mr Lucy (Evo Sports)
June is Pride Month which is a time to celebrate and support equality, people being themselves and celebrating love. The children have created some lovely pieces to remind us about caring and showing respect in the after school club last week.
