School photos - Tuesday and Wednesday
A reminder that pupil photos are taking place this week. If your child would normally be coming to school in their PE kit, we recommend they come to school in their uniform and bring their PE kit to change into. If you have younger/older children and would like a sibling photograph, there will be two opportunities to do this:
Tuesday, after school
Wednesday, from 8am
As the photographer will be based in the New Build Small Hall, our Breakfast Club will happen in the main school hall on both mornings.
Uniform
We have taken delivery of new stock if you are needing more school uniform.
Clubs
Clubs sign up will be released on Arbor on Tuesday 16th September at 6pm.
School clubs this term are:
Orchestra with Mrs Taylor on Tuesday 3.15pm-4pm
Junior Choir (Years 1,2,3) with Mrs Taylor Wednesday 12.30-12.55pm
Senior Choir (Years 4,5,6) with Mrs Taylor Thursday 12.00-12.30pm
Cross Stitch (Years 5/6) With Mrs Noall/Mrs Dando Wednesday 3.15pm-4pm
All clubs will start Week Beginning 22nd September and run for 10 weeks. Club dates will be available on the Arbor sign up form.
We have no set homework club but all children are welcome to complete homework activities in the library during lunchtime with a member of SLT.
Please see the Evo Sports section below for details of additional sports clubs that run from Monday - Thursday with a link for signing up.
Parent Governor Vacancy
We are currently looking for a new Parent Governor to join the Governing Body of our school. This opportunity has arisen due to one of our governors reaching the end of their term.
The definition of parent includes a person who has actual custody or care and control of the child, and includes a guardian and a long-term foster carer.
Parent Governors play a crucial role in representing the views of parents/carers and helping to shape the direction of our school. If you're interested in making a difference, we encourage you to apply. Further information can be found here
All parent/carers will receive an email today with a nomination form. The deadline for nominations will be Tuesday 23rd September at 8am.
Any queries please contact scallicott@peasedown.mnsp.org.uk
Em Wilkinson's Photography
We are very lucky to have a professional photographer in our Parent community. Emma Wilkinson (from Em Wilkinson’s photography) has taken many stunning pictures of our children at work and at play over the past two years. I know that being able to share these images with you after our school events has meant a lot. In the summer, Emma was able to extend her talent to the Year 6 leavers' party and production. She is now looking to expand her business and has a portfolio of images, mostly from our school, ready to share with other school leaders. When joining our school, you are given the opportunity to opt out if your child's image is being shared by the school for its publicity. Therefore, we are now extending this to ask parent if they DO NOT wish for their child's image to be held and published within Emma's portfolio, to let us know via this google form.
More Music News! 🎶
Exciting News:
We are incredibly grateful to have received funding from the PSA to purchase some fantastic new musical instruments for our lessons. Thanks to their generosity, we’ve been able to buy:
A full class set of recorders
Enough xylophones and metallophones for every child in a class to use
A selection of soft mallets to help keep the volume down – protecting little ears is very important to us!
We’re also thrilled to be offering whole-class brass tuition this term! Year 5 and Year 6 will be learning to play the pocket trumpet. The pocket trumpets arrived today, and we can’t wait to get started!
We’re proud to be working in partnership with the Midsomer Norton and Radstock Silver Band. If your child enjoys playing the pocket trumpet, there may be an opportunity for them to join the band and continue their musical journey outside of school! We will post more details about this in a few weeks.
Instrumental lessons:
Instrumental lessons will begin next week. If you have signed your child up for these lessons, please ensure they bring their instrument and any required books to school on their lesson day.
Your child’s instrumental teacher should have already been in touch with the specific day and time of their lesson. If you haven’t received this information, please contact the teacher directly.
Instrumental lessons offered at PSJ are:
Guitar
Ukulele
Flute
Fife
Clarinet
Piano
Violin
Drum kit
All instrumental lessons are available to book via this link.

PSHE information for parents
In response to a parent survey in the summer, we know that some parents would like more information about our PSHE (Personal, Social and Health Education) units. Here are some links that you may find helpful:

Home Learning
The button below will take you to this week's home learning for every year group. Home learning is designed to enable children to practice skills they will need in school and so it is really important that they spend some time over the week on this home learning.
Well done everyone on a great start to the year with regards to attendance. Shout Out to Year 1 and Year 3 who each have attendance that is above 98% so far this year.

Many thanks
Mr Lucy EVO Sports
We are really excited to be starting another year delivering the after-school programme. Each week will bring a new theme, creating amazing learning experiences as well as honing each child’s creativity. There will also be a sports activity for those who still have plenty of energy at the end of the day and each week will culminate with ‘feel good Friday’ where we may create, do or perform something special to end the week on a high note.
This week we started our creations for a competition we have entered where children need to design a food friend! We also got creative with the giant domino's and had lots of fun outside.
