Necessary "Evil" Classes

AP English Language and Composition (AP Lang): The class itself is pretty calm and quite engaging. There is a light workload that varies slightly among the different classes. Everything at first glance seems calm until you start to write essays. Among those essays you will have to write will be a special category of essays called “timed writes.” The timed writes are the most stressful time you will have, other than the AP exam for this class. You have only the full class to write an essay based on a prompt. Remember, this is no easy task to write a full essay in only a 40-minute class period. The reason AP Lang is a necessary evil is that it truly deepens your knowledge of writing. The writer you will become after this class is no comparison to the writer you were at the beginning of the school year. So although there will be a lot of essays to write, the writing skills you gain will be able to be utilized in your college essays and your future workplace.

AP Statistics: AP Statistics is a class that is definitely more math inclined, but it also has a lot of other aspects to it. It’s not an easy class because some of the material can be hard to understand. The workload can be pretty rigorous, with a lot of nights spent studying or finishing the homework. All this may seem intimidating, but it is a necessary class to take. Interpreting statistics in the real world will become much easier. Our world revolves around statistics, and taking this class will help you understand how our world functions.

AP Psychology: The course for this class is pretty extensive and requires a lot of memorization. By the time you reach the end of the year, the number of terms you have to remember is innumerable. Fortunately, most of the concepts are easy to understand, but even that doesn’t take away from the number of terms you need to know. This class, however, is definitely necessary. Psychology will help you know why people act the way they do, and it is shocking to see in real life. After taking this class, you will begin to be more understanding of people and have more knowledge regarding the behaviors of people. This class’s material will benefit you in the future because of its ability to be utilized in real-world instances.
