Dear Student Organization Leaders,
To say that the 2020-21 academic year has been unique and challenging would be an understatement. Prior to Spring of 2020, most folks had never heard of Zoom, and terms like social distancing, mask mandate, shelter-in-place order, and super-spreader were not part of our regular vocabulary. Also, who knew how much there was to know about face masks?
Despite all the challenges of the past year, what you all as student leaders have shown is that community, friendship, creativity, resiliency, and commitment cannot be squashed, even by a once-in-a-century pandemic.
While hosting in-person programming this year was not possible, that did not prevent culture shows, game and movie nights, cooking classes, group meetings and elections, pet showcases, educational workshops, guest speakers and performances, a play, and countless other creative engagement activities from happening.
Indeed, when the need for connection with others was at an all-time high, as leaders you stepped up to foster a sense of belonging with each other, the PSU campus, along with our local and global communities. You are what makes PSU great!
We are proud of all that you have accomplished this year and look forward to collaborating with you as we move forward into a post-pandemic era of student leadership.
In community ~The SALP Advising Team (Emily, Janette, Madeline, Marcos, Rebecca, and Brian).
